"All everyone is talking about is the downturn in the economy yet restaurants and clubs keep opening. I don't get it." This club was probably concieved around 2006 or so when things were going up, up, up, and few could have forseen what's happened in just the last month. When you come this far, you just forge ahead with an opening and hope that the "beautiful people" will show up anyway as an escape from the bad news. And they could be right. Either way, it's just one more dreary expression of the exclusionary mentality that creates division and social unease. Nice lighting though.

There is no difference between this any any other club. The funny thing is that male models (who I assume they mean by pretty people) barely work and get paid shit, so who is going to pay for bottle service? not the girls. They need the ugly rich guys to turn a profit. So as I said, the same as any other pretentious club.

I can't wait to see what kind of "beautiful people" are going there three months from now when the hype dies down and they realize that there are far more uglies with money in the world than pretty people. And by "beautiful" I'm pretty sure they mean trashy/ slutty. Sophisticated people don't wait in lines and beg to be let into anything.

I was in the area last night. They had this "red carpet" bullshit going on with a rather small line waiting to get in. Of course there were like 4 or 5 of those big ass Armada/Escalade types on the street. The lines were much longer at Duvet and Taj. Meh.

Going by the photos, I'd say the design, while bright and colorful, is fairly dull, and given the exclusion of all but the "beautiful people" I imagine the clientele will be pretty dull, too. So this is what people aspire to? No wonder we're going into a depression.

It's funny, these kind of clubs only produce angst for that miserable middle that so desperately want to be part of this crowd, but will never be. Those who can get in don't give it a second thought. Those (like me) who couldn't care less about this, are unaffected. But over in Jersey and Long Island, favorite haunt of those miserable middlers...that's where this opening will cause a buzz.
