Fatal Fire in Roosevelt Island Seniors Home

2008_10_roos.jpgA woman was found dead in a Roosevelt Island apartment building after firefighters responded to a call around 5:45 a.m. this morning. The woman was in an apartment on the 11th floor of a 19-story building on Main Street. WABC reports that the building is a senior citizen center and that the victim was in her seventies. No foul play is suspected and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Not that it makes a difference but the building is not a Seniors Home it is a residential building that is part of Roosevelt Landings/Eastwood. There is a senior center on the main floor. At one point the building was reserved for seniors and handicapped but not anymore.
