Sarah Palin has governed a state, commanded a state National Guard on permanent alert, balanced a budget, negotiated an oil pipe line, and excels at traditionally male dominated activities like hunting and fishing. She also has a son in Iraq and another with special needs she is raising.

Tina Fey would crumble like a week old bran muffin if she had a fraction of the sexist abuse thrown at her as Sarah Palin has. Much of it from you "tolerant" and sophisticated New Yorkers. Envy is not not pretty.

What part of prominent Republicans publicly denouncing Palin as unqualified for VP, a drag on the ticket and casting doubt on McCain's judgement did you miss? There have been so many. You must have read/hear some by now.

Tina Fey is a skilled writer and a brilliant comedian with a sharp wit, and intelligence shines through in everything she says and does. She may be "only" an entertainer, but she has excelled in a male-dominated field -- most head writers and producers of television shows are still men. She is admired by millions of young women for being a female figure in the entertainment industry who has managed to become hugely successful and popular without sacrificing her dignity and class, or crassly exploiting her femininity or sexuality, like so many other female celebrities have done. For Ides of March to dismiss her as "cutesy" and incapable of standing up to sexist abuse simply because she impersonates Sarah Palin on television...is sexist.

Now, I could list all of the reasons why women -- and not just "sophisticated" New York City women, like the hard-working, middle-class Queens and Brooklyn residents I know, but women all over the country -- consider Sarah Palin an embarrassment to their sex. But anyone who doesn't know why women think she sucks has got his head in the sand. The anti-woman policies, the anti-intellectualism, the condescending "folksy" crap, the Miss South Carolina interview answers, the parading of her special-needs child in front of television cameras for political gain, the rape kits -- oh, the rape kits.

Also, Ides, you may have missed the part about how the governor of a state does NOT command its National Guard when it is participating in national security actions. All National Guard operations on a federal level are under the direct command of the United States military, and the governor only has to be informed of what is going on. She could call up the National Guard to handle emergencies, but she's never had to. She also governed a state with a population less than that of Columbus, Ohio. There are plenty of female governors and female mayors and women in Congress and in courtrooms and boardrooms and universities -- and, yes, on television -- who are more worthy of women's admiration than Sarah Palin, especially because most of them could probably answer a question without rambling, speak without sounding unintelligent, project an image of confidence and preparedness, and understand the needs of other women, in addition to being damn good at their jobs. I'll save MY admiration for them.

There is no proof whatsoever that she actually governed the state of Alaska. My guess is that someone has been doing the work for her, and she is just a pretty face to put on TV.

I think JFK tried to do bring that back. Considering how huge and powerful the international banking system is, and how much control we surrendered to them by creating the federal reserve and the income tax, I would not be surprised if they're the ones who really had him knocked off. Just an opinion.

I have held executive powers and I'm not qualified to hold such an office, I'm not that reckless.

It is just 100% reckless from republicans to nominate likable incompetent clowns for the office (EG Bush, Palin) to then fck up things and held that against the system!

Palin only works for those that see a joke as enough qualification to be leader: that proves to be segment of the population that is profoundly (dogmatically) proud of their ignorance.

I'll take the rape kit controversy. That was stupid, and shouldn't have been pinned on Palin. However, in the same respect, I would say that ACORN and Bill Aryes are equally lame shots.
