I'm amazed by the incredible amount of public interest in Sarah Palin. Good or bad, she's become somewhat of a pop icon. People are dressing like her to be and/or mock her all at the same time.

I'll take the rape kit controversy. That was stupid, and shouldn't have been pinned on Palin. However, in the same respect, I would say that ACORN and Bill Aryes are equally lame shots.

Palin wants the job and the power, but won't show up for the interview.

I have held executive powers and I'm not qualified to hold such an office, I'm not that reckless.

It is just 100% reckless from republicans to nominate likable incompetent clowns for the office (EG Bush, Palin) to then fck up things and held that against the system!

Palin only works for those that see a joke as enough qualification to be leader: that proves to be segment of the population that is profoundly (dogmatically) proud of their ignorance.

If Sarah Palin is unqualified, then Obama and Biden are even more unqualified as neither of them have held ANY executive position. Obama's main experience is his junior term as senator in which he has done almost nothing but campaign for president. And now we find out that his "community organizing" is nothing but helping groups like ACORN perpetrate voter fraud. That's when he's not trying to put a happy, multicultural face on the radical left-wing agenda of people like Bill Ayers. Obama is not qualified to run a hot dog stand in Central Park.

Considering how huge and powerful the international banking system is, and how much control we surrendered to them by creating the federal reserve and the income tax, I would not be surprised if they're the ones who really had him knocked off. Matty: I read some article ages ago about how female comedians generally fail to connect with male audiences; men tend to rate their comedy lower, and are more likely to describe female comedians as "not funny." So Tina Fey is perhaps the first female comedian to have both men and women in stitches.

Also, she has made it okay for women and girls to be kinda nerdy. Finally. She has proven that you can still be beautiful and talented and successful if you do things like use the word "blurg" to express displeasure, and make constant Star Wars references. And wear glasses.

There is no proof whatsoever that she actually governed the state of Alaska. My guess is that someone has been doing the work for her, and she is just a pretty face to put on TV.

A governor has ZERO responsibility over National Guard units performing national security missions or training for national security missions. Sarah Palin controls the Guard in a natural disaster or some other Alaska event. She has no military command experience in a time of war.

Honestly I don't think I've laughed with a female comedian/actress more than Tina Fey. She is really one of the best comedians out there period, not just one of the best female comedians.

which is a bigger problem, mastermind number 1 and intellectually questionable number 2 (older bush + quayle) or intellectually questionable number 1 and mastermind number 2 (w + cheney). remember, quayle was a heartbeat away, and he didn't do nearly as well as palin did in the debate.

i'm in no way a mccain supporter (ron paul is my man). but i'm curious how the 2 candidates can possibly not grow the 1 trillion budget deficit hole. how much of obama's promises can he deliver with regards to his proposed spending on wealth transfer, and how much extra revenue is he going to raise by increasing tax in this recession period (as mccain has kindly pointed out, raising taxes put the great in great depression. he did not, however, point out that the government had balanced budget back then, which makes current situation more dire). how is mccain going to cut any taxes now, with both house and senate heavily democratic, and govt in such deep hole?

Tina Fey is a skilled writer and a brilliant comedian with a sharp wit, and intelligence shines through in everything she says and does. She may be "only" an entertainer, but she has excelled in a male-dominated field -- most head writers and producers of television shows are still men. She is admired by millions of young women for being a female figure in the entertainment industry who has managed to become hugely successful and popular without sacrificing her dignity and class, or crassly exploiting her femininity or sexuality, like so many other female celebrities have done. For Ides of March to dismiss her as "cutesy" and incapable of standing up to sexist abuse simply because she impersonates Sarah Palin on television...is sexist.

Now, I could list all of the reasons why women -- and not just "sophisticated" New York City women, like the hard-working, middle-class Queens and Brooklyn residents I know, but women all over the country -- consider Sarah Palin an embarrassment to their sex. But anyone who doesn't know why women think she sucks has got his head in the sand. The anti-woman policies, the anti-intellectualism, the condescending "folksy" crap, the Miss South Carolina interview answers, the parading of her special-needs child in front of television cameras for political gain, the rape kits -- oh, the rape kits.

Also, Ides, you may have missed the part about how the governor of a state does NOT command its National Guard when it is participating in national security actions. All National Guard operations on a federal level are under the direct command of the United States military, and the governor only has to be informed of what is going on. She could call up the National Guard to handle emergencies, but she's never had to. She also governed a state with a population less than that of Columbus, Ohio. There are plenty of female governors and female mayors and women in Congress and in courtrooms and boardrooms and universities -- and, yes, on television -- who are more worthy of women's admiration than Sarah Palin, especially because most of them could probably answer a question without rambling, speak without sounding unintelligent, project an image of confidence and preparedness, and understand the needs of other women, in addition to being damn good at their jobs. I'll save MY admiration for them.

What part of prominent Republicans publicly denouncing Palin as unqualified for VP, a drag on the ticket and casting doubt on McCain's judgement did you miss? There have been so many. You must have read/hear some by now.

Sarah Palin has governed a state, commanded a state National Guard on permanent alert, balanced a budget, negotiated an oil pipe line, and excels at traditionally male dominated activities like hunting and fishing. She also has a son in Iraq and another with special needs she is raising.

Tina Fey would crumble like a week old bran muffin if she had a fraction of the sexist abuse thrown at her as Sarah Palin has. Much of it from you "tolerant" and sophisticated New Yorkers. Envy is not not pretty.

Can we just make Tina Fey vice president instead. That would be awesome.
