Weiner Says the Days of Boss Tweed Are Back

2008_10_weiner2.jpgAnthony Weiner continues to prove more than willing to bear the torch as the most vocal leader against extending term limits. Weiner says that the issue has helped him find his voice as a populist representative during this nascent stage in the 2009 battle for City Hall. Weiner says of the back room deals leading to the mayor's proposal are a return to the days of Boss Tweed. He also calls Speaker Quinn's term limits support "the mother of all back room deals" and says that the two can "never again...talk about their desire to reform government." Not only does he think the plan will be defeated, Weiner--no lack of bravado here-- even claims that come Election Day 2009, Bloomberg “would find himself voting for me.” The Times says that his march against term limit extensions is "vintage Weiner, who is known for outresearching, outpoliticking and out-fund-raising his opponents...and it also bears his trademark self-certainty."

I'd like to hear what this douche would say if someone told him he could only have two terms in the House. I guess he'd move on to different offices until he was dead: two terms as mayor, two as governor perhaps, Senate. . . .

Anthony Weiner owes a freelancer friend of mine for a gig and refuses to pay, even though the job was done very well. It isn't that much money either, but it just shows what kind of creep he is.

Reform government my ass. He's just pitching a tantrum because he was so sure this would be his turn to be mayor. Stay classy, Weinerdog!

#1 = you hit the nail on the head.

Rich billionaire Ron Lauder, as revenge for losing a mayoral race, spent millions on advertisements to weaken the Democratic Party influence in NYC.
The slick ad campaign convinced voters in the outer boroughs (Manhattan voted against term limits) that all politicians are bums, except the ones they vote for.

He never tried it for the State or Congress, which were very Republican at the time.
Voters take note.

Unless Weiner is running unopposed, Bloomberg isn't voting for him, because Weiner has policy views (especially with regards to congestion pricing, which may still be reintroduced in some other form and/or under some other name) that are vastly different from Bloomberg. Weiner wants to protect the right of his constituents to drive into Manhattan at no cost and make all the rest of us breathe their exhaust.

Wow, I rhymed "cost" with "exhaust". Go me.

Mr Weiner thinks it's his turn to be Mayor, but it doesn't work that way anymore. He is as adept at making self-serving deals as any other hack.

He is right, of course. But then again I shudder the thought of having to hear the words "Mayor Weiner".

Oscar Mayor Weiner?

If he thinks he's a populist, why doesn't he want the people to be able to vote for whomever they'd like to be mayor?

I would never vote for the Weiner dog.

Weiner would of course be the first "Boss Corduroy" (the fabric of wormy little lefty dweezil-dick shitbags). He should move to Staten Island and run for Vito Fossella's seat.

Hey JMH, you really think congestion pricing is about clean air? It's about money, and how much more of it GOONberg can take out of working people's pockets! As far as GOONberg is concerned V-O-T-E is a four letter word. He always loses because his proposals are idiotic (West side stadium, congestion pricing..etc.) If his smoking and trans-fat rules were put to a vote, he would have lost too! He should go back to Boston, and take his ass-kisser Quinn with him! She might be a lesbian, but she's in bed with GOONberg! He bought the city council, and everyone knows that! What a pig! I'm not saying we should vote for Weiner, but anyone who votes for GOONberg, unless they are a billionaire real estate developer is insane!
