Pace Student's Murderer was "Bored"

The Post has detalis of the chilling confession made by Jeromie Cancel, the 22-year-old who killed a Pace student in late August. According to Cancel, he was smoking with one hand while "pulling tight on the electrical cord around his victim's neck with the other"--all while watching Saw on DVD.

Cancel had met Kevin Pravia, 19, at Union Square; Pravia was reportedly looking for drugs. He went back to Pravia's apartment in Chelsea; after Pravia fell asleep, Cancel initially stole Pravia's computer, cell phone and iPod and left the apartment. In the confession, Cancel said, "I was bored, so I decided to go back into the apartment and kill him." He strangled Pravia while he slept--and told cops he noticed Pravia's eyes open. Pravia's body was later found by his roommate.

Cancel's father called the police when his son (previously described as mentally imbalanced and having drifted from city to city) arrived at his Queens home and said he killed someone. Cancel reportedly also told the police, "Can you cuff me in the front so I can throw gang signs?" The confession was filed in court at Cancel's arraignment. However, Cancel, who is being held without bail, pleaded not guilty to second degree murder.

I HIGHLY doubt that. In fact, I'm certain. How many peer-reviewed publications do you have, jackass??

  • NannyState

@ #20: Many homicides have a distict sexual angle, particularly 'intimate' homicides such as this, where the perp might feel the need to touch his or her victim and often exhibits ambivalence: "I was bored." Psychopaths are also often driven by their own unresolved sexuality issues, hence the desire to kill in an intimate situation as opposed to simply taking someone's belongings and leaving the scene.

  • grifforama

if this was made public yesterday, where can one go to read his confession ?

  • robingee

    Duh, #13 is baiting.

This kid's life needs to be Cancelled.

  • zodak

    HUGO MEGO, you fail.

not everything is a damn partisan argument.

no liberal wants cancel set free.

    even crazy people are incarcerated.

  • Clarice City

Hugo- Do you even know where someone like Jerky went to college?

  • whitecastlerock

Cancel will be receiving a Lethal Hot Beef Injection while in the big house...

  • Spiny

And you're a troll. Good day, sir.

  • HUGO_MEGO

Jerky, you are just plain wrong. If Cancel is a pure sociopath then he is not responsible for his actions and should be set free. I'm better educated than you and went to a better college. You don't know anything about rehabilitating criminals so I suggest you stay out of this one.

Spiny, keep the badge for yourself. You are a disgrace to true liberals.

  • bagelman

...Gonna take a walk down Union Square You never know who you're gonna find there...

  • Jerky

Yes, Hugo seems to stupid to be able to tell the difference between people that belong in rehabilitation and a pure sociopath.

But I'll forgive him for his lack of education and ignorance, since if he was a true conservative, he would obviously know that rehabilitation is far cheaper and far more effective than locking up people for things which shouldn't even be felonies, such as many examples of drug possession.

  • Spiny

Hugo Mego is being sarcastic, everyone. He's extending the liberal emphasis on rehabilitating non-violent criminals (like drug offenders) to include depraved psycho criminals, in an effort to smear liberals.

Unfortunately, no liberal that I know would want this kid "rehabilitated." Step up and receive your official Troll Badge, Hugo.

  • doctorwho

@hugo mego: are you frakkin kidding me?

    @nannystate: and your point being?

@supernova: i think someone like kevin would have better taste than cancel.

  • Clarice City

History of being imbalanced or not; he knew what he was doing and wanted to cash in on a few stolen electronics along the way.

  • Clarice City

#14: "this poor kid thrown in jail for the rest of his life"?????

What about the human life that was taken? Cancel is hardly a "kid" at 22 years old. Unless of course you want to talk about the poor 19 year old "kid" that was brutally stangled to death with an electrical cord.

Cancel killed a total stranger in cold blood. This was about drugs, ipods and computers. If you believe that Cancel was too unstable to know what he was doing when he wrapped a cord around that young man's neck, then how do you explain his sudden moments of clarity as he methodically claned out the apartment of all electronic devices? Get real.

  • west side Michael

This jerk was simply a predator.

Dime a dozen in this city.

Be careful tot he kids that use

Union Square as an NYU campus.

Don't talk to strangers unless they

    look old and feeble.

  • SeasTooFarToReach

This psychopath confesses to all this things and blabblers out so his "insanity" defense goes in smoothly. I'd say lock him up for life.

Hugo_Mego obviously did not read the article where he stated: "I'd do it again."

@NannyState: I believe those were the first reports. If you read the story is somewhat implied as well. At least so appears to me.

  • NannyState

Cancel isn't telling the whole story. There was a sex motive on his part.

  • HUGO_MEGO

Jeromie Cancel is just a misunderstood kid who needs help. I'm not saying he did the right thing but wouldn't it be a waste to see this poor kid thrown in jail for the rest of his life? I mean isn't it the right thing to do, the liberal thing to do, to rehabilitate this kid and see him make something of his life?

  • jterry121

Why waste tax payer dollars by putting this human waste in jail? Just have the cops shoot him in the nuts, wait for him to bleed to death & toss some bags of crack on him to make it look drug related.

  • Think2wice

    Enjoy prison.

  • doctorwho

that thing on kevin's lower lip was a piercing. and i'm bored, can i administer a slow lethal injection into cancel?

  • Rocknrope

Sigh...why couldn't he just teabag him and take a picture like other bored 20-somethings with a sleeping victim?

  • ides_of_march

Well at least the Pace student won't be passing the stupid gene to the next generation.

  • Splicer

Second degree murder - first degree stupid. I have a "gang sign" I'd like to flash him.

  • everyAframe

Mr. Cancel, stand by for length of time you'll be thrown about like a rag doll in Rikers. Guessing it'll be double dimes, dude. 20 years of having your ass bandied about in exchange for Marlboro reds and having a super sore jaw until around 2029.

Ah, tough guy for a night, hole toy for a couple decades.

    Buh bye.

  • palestine

The logic behind being bored and wanting to kill someone, then pleading not guilty is pretty damn stupid.

  • w0wzers

Well Mr.Cancel looks like a crazed guy who you want to avoid. It's the wire frame glasses.

  • JenChungsBaby

So if you were in a cell with this guy how could you ever fall asleep?

And nice thing on Pravia's lower lip in that picture. What the hell is that?

  • matty

    what a sick, sick person.
