Lil' JFK Born Inside Kennedy Airport

2008_10_airbaby.jpgA pregnant woman flying all the way from Gambia to New York yesterday made it through thirteen-plus hours in a pressurized cabin only to go into labor and deliver her baby once she arrived in JFK airport. Fatou Jaw was with her three other young children in customs as she began "using limited English and pointing to her belly" in an attempt to signal to customs agents the impending arrival. She then gave birth to a healthy baby boy before paramedics were able to arrive. While there is no word on his first name, his middle name is apparently "JFK." The woman was flying in from Gambia to meet her husband here in hopes of receiving asylum within the States.

Countries should have an exchange program... Prisoners get sent to poor countries's jails and qualified workers get accepted here... 2 birds in one stone. We could even give one quarter of what we spend here to the other country... They'd be more than happy...

    shut up frenchie

    Hey nik13:

I read that article, including the part where it said it took place in FRANCE. Did you miss that part about FRANCE? If so, let me tell you the legal Malian immigrants to FRANCE with multiple wives who live in FRENCH public housing and collect FRENCH welfare. Maybe you can explain to us what you said has to do with US. Or just shutup.

    anchor baby!

    someone alert michele malkin

  • Felix Hoenikker

Draft him and send him to Afganistan.

  • JenChungsBaby

They should have named the baby Jackpot.

  • nik13

Another so called "anchor baby" . Now rest of the extended family will trickle into NYC & likely end up on welfare rolls.

NYT did an expose of Malian immigrants some time ago. They get away with having several wives, they cannot afford without public assistance.

    Great another Obama voter.

though the facts as I have read them in other sources (including the link provided above) state that her husband, the father of the woman's children, had already been granted asylum, which means that the government has already found some basis for their claim to asylum (going out on a limb and assuming that the wife and children have the same claim as the husband), so let's not get all xenophobic about this case, people.

as to whether people should get citizenship at birth - yes, period, end of discussion. the alternative leads to too many other problems.

  • Polite New Yorker

We need to amend the Constitution to make sure that birthright citizenship is denied in cases such as these. A child born to someone who is no a lawfully residing alien should not have automatic citizenship. Some would argue that the Constitution already denies citizenship to those born under these and similar circumstances, but the courts and our government have deemed it otherwise. Because of the massive abuse of our immigration system (including our asylum system), non-citizen women who are visibly pregnant should not be allowed to fly into the U.S.

It depends if she was already through customs when the baby was delivered, which I doubt if she showed up in labor. That kind of stunt upsets me...

  • Snoopy

Come on people give the woman a break. In Gambia they normally squat out in the fields. The kid can stay, the rest must go.

  • Politburo

No, you are not "banned" in that case.. just ask Sarah Palin.

  • abcohen

I thought you were banned from flying if you are THAT pregnant?

thats totally unsafe... and labor is the major reason why!!!!

you shouldnt fly at all in the third trimester...

  • r1b2

Clench, clench, clench, clench clench, clench...

Well, now one of us is a citizen.

  • meowster

I thought you were banned from flying if you are THAT pregnant?

  • Kojak

She probably corked her cervix so she can hold it in until she arrived in the US. Smart

  • Think2wice

Clearly DOH has to deport the mother and send the infant to it's maximum security day care center at an undisclosed location. Now salute that flag son!

  • Reality Check: Giving birth to an American child doesn't help in asylum cases, unless the child itself is in danger (wrong religion, ethnic group, ect.)

    It sure as shit helps!

  • TimSPC

Good for her. Grant them asylum!

  • ntwrkguy

so now the baby is a us citizen? spectacular.

  • WesleySnipesAlot

Haha talk about timing! well, since little JFK was born on American soil, he is now an American citizen, and gives better odds to this woman and her children gaining asylum.
