Hillary Clinton Says Term Limits Push is "Disturbing"

2008_10_hclint10.jpgSenator Hillary Clinton spoke NY1's Dominic Carter today and voiced her opinion about the term limits issue. And it doesn't sound like she likes what's happening: "It is disturbing that voters voted twice, so I think that the City Council and the mayor have to first go through the hearings they're holding and try to figure out what they will do. They have the legal authority to make the change that they're considering, but I really am going to watch from the sidelines now because this is a very intense, local debate and the people of New York City should be heard. They should have every opportunity to express themselves and that's what I hope happens.” You can see the interview tonight on NY1's Inside City Hall. Additionally, according to channel's count, 14 City Council members support extending term limits, 19 are against and 18 are undecided.

Easy for you to say since theres no such thing as term limits for a US senator.

I don't know the relationship between Hillary & Bloomberg, but if she doesn't think or know that he was for her she'll try and shoot him down.

it is disturbing. We had register so many new voters in NYC and now they will be disillusions by this immoral process by Bloomberg/Quinn. there should never be an exception or suspension of democracy.

Did Gothamist ever mention the NY Bar Association has denounced Bloomberg's actions? Once the NY Bar Assoc. has denounced you, you are dead in the water.

Hillary is against the manner Bloomberg has forced the issue onto NYers. It's good to see Hillary is rallying the Dems against Bloomberg. The Dems in NYC need to get on the same page one of these days.

Bloomberg doesn't have much political pull as people would think.

Felxthecat:

Term limits are antidemocratic. If the people want to elect Bloomberg, let them.

I've never understood why people think term limits are a good thing. Especially in this city where the vast majority of city council members can do little more than pander to NIMBY types and the poor, we need someone in the government who understands how the city economy functions and how we will continue to bribe the 2,500,000 slackers living on the public dime.

The more pressing matter is what will happen if the economy goes into a tailspin?

Riots, crime, or worse.

Most everyone involved with city politics thinks money grows on trees.

Legislative should not have term limits. Executive should always have term limits.

Hillary Clinton looks very old and ugly these days.
