  • A 16-year-old football player at Montclair High School suffered a brain hemorrhage during a game on Monday. A school official said he is in critical condition and is "unlikely to improve."
  • A judge granted temporary custody of a 10-year-old boy, the lone survivor of the Chelsea fire that killed his family, to his aunt and uncle. Jonzan Valdez is still unconscious and in critical condition, but his family is hopeful.
  • The suspicious package that forced Penn Station to shut down briefly yesterday? A cleaner found a smoke grenade in a knapsack left in LIRR train car.
