With The Waterfalls ending, it's nice to know something will fill the void. Both Williamsburg and LIC have some new illegal artwork adorning their waterfront. Momo has announced that his latest projects are finished and they're "funny, big, wet, dangerous, illegal, & moving." The project is called PLAF (combined it includes seven outdoor and one indoor installation), and here's a cute video on the Williamsburg one.
Does it seem like more and more artists are moving towards the water these days?

These "Artists" can do me a favor and keep walking off the end of that pier.
Illegal it may be, it's actually a lot better then a lot of the dross being called 'art' these days.
And amusingly, it could serve a practical purpose, an indication for high tide and low tide. Not that It'd require some refinement, such as a metal pole... and reflective strips for the green and red segments... but it could work.
Am I the only one who misses that hand that was attached to the pole at the taxi rank at 7th Ave South and Christopher St? It was like this in that you pulled a string and the hand would move with the intention of hailing a cab. I loved that thing and it was gone so quickly.
meh, this thing is lame.
Very lame. If Bloomberg is so hot on being green, why not put some windmills up on the waterfront? Hmm, that may be a useful art project. Maybe I'll call the Public Art Fund.
If I spray painted my turds would these clowns put it in their exhibit?
haha pretty cool. Although I wonder what happens a wake from a close moving boat goes by... they probably flap wildly live crazed railroad crossing signs.
I prefer the outlaw art opposed to the multi-million dollar crap the city shoves down our throats.
That breeze you felt yesterday was all of the muses leaving NYC.
