Dow Ends Slightly Down After 850-Point Swing

2008_10_dow14.jpgStocks soared hundreds of points when the stock market opened this morning, but ended close to starting level, with the Dow falling 76 points to 9,310 (-0.82%) and the S&P 500 falling 0.53%. However, tech stock worries dragged down the Nasdaq 3.54%. Church Capital Management portfolio manager Michael Church told CNBC was optimistic, "I think the death spiral has probably been taken off the table here and it’s time to begin to get invested again." Less optimistic: A new economic forecast released says that the financial crisis could lead to NYC losing up to 165,000 jobs over the next two years.
