Palin Booed at Flyers-Rangers Game in Philly

2008_10_palinranger.jpg

Last night, vice-presidential candidate--and perhaps the world's most famous hockey mom--Sarah Palin dropped the puck at the Philadelphia Flyers' Wachovia Center for the team's season opener against the NY Rangers. And she got resoundingly booed. See the video:

Fans from the city of Brotherly Love have reportedly booed Santa Claus at a Philadelphia Eagles game, so Palin shouldn't feel too bad. But one woman protesting outside a fund-raiser told the Daily News, "I have two daughters who are Ivy-League educated. When we're given an opportunity to have a woman run for vice president of the United States, the woman we get is Sarah Palin. I came to protest because of my own sense of outrage. This is such a shame for other smart women who aspire to have political careers."

Listen to all of those pitbulls in lipstick booing Ms Palin! Awesome.

I do feel bad for her kids though.

The all stupid-fascism has hijacked this country and look where we are!
Palin is the WORSE example of the stupid-fascism.

"Nationalist-oriented collectivism, mysticism, and populism"

Fascism also has elements of populism that appealed to an Agrarian myth. Fascism also tends to be anti-intellectual. The Nazis in particular despised intellectuals and university professors.

Fascism appealed both to collectivism, mysticism, and populism along a basis that promoted nationalism. Fascism made populist appeals to the middle-class, especially the lower middle-class by promising the protection of the middle-class and small business and small property owners"

I'm usually a believer that you should not booo but in this case I think people around the country need to realized what a bad choice she is for VP. I agree that I feel bad for her kids but shame on her for not thinking of that ahead of time.

I can't hear anything over the super dramatic music. They should have thrown shit.

Palin is a prime example of an all fluff, no substance politician. Just look at her in that video with her air kisses and princess wannabe wave. And the sad part is this will probably increase her popularity in her own state. Alaska thinks it stands apart from the rest of the US politically and philosophically as well as geographically. Can't wait until she runs back north with her tail between her legs after election day.

The scariest Halloween costume this year would be a Sarah Palin mask with a portable "President of the United States" podium slung from her neck like the cigarette girls of the 1920s-40s did with their boxes. Sure would scare the hell out of me.

Forgot the most important part of this story... that the Rangers are kicking ass!

Forget Sarah Palin. She'll be back to gutting moose and judging her neighbors in mere weeks.

McCain & Palin desperately need to fire whomever they have running their campaign. Didn't they realize she would've been booed? Shes in Philly for Christ's sake.

Damned elitist hockey fans. I bet they were all drinking cappuccino, too.

Getting booed by a bunch of knucklehead sports fans usually becomes a badge of courage for the booee. A better way to greet this bitch is with resounding silence.

The only boos I heard was in the beginning of the video when they announced her name.

^ They played music to cover the booing.

TODAY'S "UNDECIDED"

Of all the voters

They're the basest,

Loath to admit

That they're racist.

damn. Bristol palin is looking hott. No wonder she's got a bun in the oven from her father.

I like the obama signs in the background.

I was going to vote for Obama but I think this has changed my mind. Palin is such an honest person that she showed up to the game even though she knew the crowd would be hostile. What a strong independent woman! Too bad Hillary Clinton the self professed Yankee fan never had the guts to show up at the stadium. Do you think she would be cheered? LOL, thank god we still have honest down to earth people like Palin.

No one threw a beer or hot dog at her? Shame.

Hugo Mego, Go for martyrs!
If she suffers like we normal humans then she's qualified no matter her total lack of understanding and all displays of incoherence! Judgments based on compassion that ignore the responsibility of selecting a leader rather than a pet president, has taken this country to the abyss is now: UNCONSCIOUSNESS AND BARBARISM supported by ignorance.

NYT re-edited & replaced Lynn Zinser's story to make it less virulently anti-Palin. Why out of a sudden?

But I'd love to see Obama on ice.

His campaign going this negative will taint the rest of his senate career. He should have just lost honorably.
That said, many of his supporters are ignorant d-bags:

As a student of Public Relations, the idea of having the self-proclaimed hockey mom drop the puck at an opening hockey game was great. But someone did not do their homework! Having a Republican drop the puck in Biden's home State of Pennsylvania, against New York, a Democratic State was begging to get booed. She is ridiculous, and should just stick to reading note cards and looking pretty.

Go Back to Alaska there waiting for you.

I'd say she dropped the ball more than the puck on this one.

Hockey moms attend local kid hockey games, not professional sports events. Wouldn't it be more appropriate for her to drop a puck at a little league game? She wanted national coverage and she got it and any publicity is good publicity one way or another.

Geez- All I heard was cheering and 'some' boos. . .

I gues we all hear what we want to hear. . .

Go Palin!!

Bitch is a coward using her kids as props. Go back to Alaska....you have an impeachment process waiting for you.

"I gues we all hear what we want to hear. . ."

You are correct on that one, especially when it comes to republicans. Faith based "thinking" is your disease.

I tuned in to the beginning of the game just to hear her get booed. I loved it! They did play the music extra loud to try to drown out the boos. While I loved the booing, I was glad that they had the class to stop when they saw the younger daughter come out. Philly fans are bad, but some of us have hearts.
I hadn't noticed the Obama signs during it, but thanks for pointing them out Jacque! I love it. hee Our local Obama groups were encouraging fans to bring their Obama signs & wear their Obama shirts to the game.
By the way, there were protests against her at many of the events she attended while she was in town, & not just by Obama supporters.

that quote at the end is spot-on.

Palin is a disgrace to all the women who are actually qualified to be in such a power position. To me, it was an insult on McCain's behalf. He somewhat lost my respect after it.

Philly fans finally do something right!
