i went to register yesterday and inquired about the last day to register for my friends and was told the same thing. i also went to my local post office to pick up registration forms and was told that they were ALL OUT. way to let the voters down.

That said, I printed up a bunch of non-partisan flyers and pasted them all around my neighborhood. I put the address of our nearest registration center on it, too. (I can't take care of everyone, but I can do my best with my own neighborhood!)
The MTA guy in the subway booth was really nice about putting it up for me, too.

Yes, I know, I finally noticed there were two pages to the PDF. In my rush to get info, I was not as observant as I might have been.

Anyway, thanks Jen. In the future, it's better not to link to PDF files. Most people I know who aren't great at computers, particularly the ones on PC, don't know what to do when the window comes up asking them how they want to open a PDF file. Even on my computer, it takes forever for PDF links to open, and I often have to shut my browser when it gets stuck opening a PDF.

If you want to truly be helpful, it's better to just cut and past all the addresses, or link to a regular HTML page.

I registered at ACORN, just kidding.
there's so many get out the vote orgs out there that it's hard not to walk through Manhattan without one soliciting you.
I find them to be around supermarkets the most.
and, they don't tell you what party to register with.

If you call the NYC-VOTE number you get a recorded message saying that the last day to register was friday october 10th, and there is no information about where you can actually register! Also, if you try to get a real person on the line, you get "call back during business hours".

I have been looking all over the net to find an address for where my neighbors can go to register in person today. I have not found one yet!

It's all find and good to tell people they can still register, but we need some actual addresses!
