I registered on Tuesday during a special drive from noon to 9pm that had over 100 sites across the city. I thought today was the last day too, but that same type of drive is occurring from noon to 9pm tomorrow as well. I don't have the link, but it's for real.

According to a clerk in the Brooklyn Board of Elections office, all requests for absentee ballots are being processed and will be sent out next week.
If you don't get your ballot by the end of next week, call Mary at X1321

Also, the link to the Obama web site is very helpful. In the case of my daughter, she will be overseas on Nov. 4, so she might benefit by using the Overseas Vote Foundation federal registration web site that the Obama site links to.

Famdoc, absolutely call the office today (and kudos to Vanessa for supplying the info). I was in the process of moving back to NYC in 2006 and never received my absentee ballot from NJ. By the time I called them to see what was going on, it was too late (they resent the ballot, but I didn't receive it until too late).

Famdoc,

Yes, this happened to me in the 2004 election. I was living in Canada at the time. I registered months in advance and never received my absentee ballot, so I couldn't vote. I called a few days before the election and they said that there was nothing that they could do. Call your election office today to get it sorted out.

p.s. Some students are registering in the state where they attend college. New York won't be a close race, some other states will. It is probably too late for them to register in another state, since their applications are pending and most deadlines have past, but, anyhow, here is a list of swing states: http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/president/whos-ahead/key-states/map.html

My kids, both in college in other states, have sent in absentee registrations forms to the Board of Elections in Brooklyn, but have yet to receive their ballots. Anyone have any experience with this? Will their ballots arrive in time for the election?
