The NY Times starts the guessing game about how much Mayor Bloomberg will spend to ensure a third term in office. He spent $74 million in 2001 and $84 million in 2005, and a source floated $80 million as a mere starting point. Plus: "At least $20 million of that money would be used to pound away at the man the advisers believe will be his most likely opponent, Representative Anthony D. Weiner, a Democrat who represents Brooklyn and Queens." (Sorry, Bill Thompson!) Another source says, “There is no cap. There is no price tag," which probably makes the local TV and radio stations hopeful the legislation passes. New Yorkers are Term Limits has an anti-term limits extension YouTube video and you can see where City Council members stand on the issue via NY1.

Then Albany or the City Council should pass a law placing a cap on campaign spending. Then it would make it more difficult for moguls to run away with the city.
Best ..... photoshop.... evar
I'd rather just extend the mayorship by one year during this crisis, so we don't have to watch another election campaign spending bonanza. Then let the chips fall where they may when the year's up.
keep the pressure on!
we have to be louder than the lauders!
he wants power so much that he'll spend anything to get it. 84 million dollars, what happened to by the people and for the people?
Things were messed up when Bloomberg got in. Remember?
Bloomberg isn't the only person in the world who can get over a learning curve.
King Bloomberg is a total anus.
oh oh, the King is getting pissed. he's going to get personal and snide. in other words, it's his way or the highway. the king knows best.
