Last night, it was confirmed that Democratic candidate Barack Obama's camp bought 30 minutes of national primetime on CBS and NBC to air on October 29 at 8 p.m. His campaign is also negotiating with ABC as well as Fox, which could have a conflict if there is a Game 6 of the World Series.
Variety explains that the move is "not unprecedented," but unusual since most political advertising is bought at the local level. "But with so many states in play this election, a network buy could be more efficient and economical." The networks that sell time to Obama's camp will have to offer time at the same rate to Republican candidate John McCain, and CBS's statement reads, "We will, of course, make an equivalent opportunity available to Senator McCain and other legally qualified candidates upon request."
And McCain rallies have taken on a Network (the movie) type of feeling, as supporters are becoming angrier. Frustrated that Obama is leading in the polls, and people have been screaming things like "Terrorist!" and "He's a damn liar!" at McCain rallies. At an event yesterday, one man told the crowd, “I’m mad, I’m really mad! And what’s going to surprise ya, is it’s not the economy – it’s the socialists taking over our country... When you have an Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the hooligans up there gonna run this country, we gotta have our head examined!”
McCain, when asked, discussed William Ayers, the Weatherman founder whose ties to Obama have been raised more often in recent attacks from the GOP, and said, "Look, we don’t care about an old washed-up terrorist and his wife who still, at least on Sept. 11, 2001, said he still wanted to bomb more. You know, but that’s not the point here. The point is, Senator Obama said he was just a guy in the neighborhood. We need to know that’s not true." The mention of Ayers' statement on 9/11 is from a NY Times article published on September 11, 2001 (presumably from an interview before then), and Ayers later said his statement about not doing enough was distorted.
Some other odds and ends: The NY Times finds that a small fraction of Obama's donors seem to be fictitious, raising questions about vetting donations. The Times also reports that Sarah Palin, her husband and her staff repeatedly inquired about whether her ex-brother-in-law state trooper would be fired.

Such acts of desperation on the part of McCain's camp. Despite all the shit McCain has thrown out about Ayers, the polls are still moving in Obama's favor.
Americans are more concerned about the Economy than stupid shit like this, and most Americans seem to side with the democrats when it comes to economic matters. McCain is in real trouble.
Troubling stuff by fanatics.
There is also the belief that taking out Obama is the only way to win.
The Republicans are sounding more & more desperate, screaming their garbage & lies. They won't talk about the real issue, the economy because they know the public doesn't want another 4 years of a Republican president. So they resort to inciting angry mobs with lies, lies, & more lies. Disgusting, especially from a man who swore he wouldn't stoop to that kind of campaigning.
We're in their base...
Nothing pisses off Joe Six Pack than messing with their favorite TV shows.
Plus who the hell wants to watch an infomercial? Having an infomercial about your product, business opportunity, or service basically means it is crap, in a legal grey area, or otherwise problematical - with extra points for celeb endorsements of the product. Then again, all politicians are crap so joining the ranks of the Little Giant Ladder System, Ronco Showtime Roaster, Total Gym, SMC, Shamwow, Flowbee, and books by Kevin Trudeau seems just about right.
i am going to make a broad sweeping statement that is 99.9% true...mainstream graphic design in ALL Asian countries is heinous!!
I wonder what McCain will do with Obama's most recent association:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama announced that he has a half-man half-bat half-brother, Obatma.
“Obatma shares my DNA and will be uniquely qualified to understand some of the difficult issues facing mutants in this country and around the world.”
"The Economy, Stupid."
One would think the McCain campaign would get a clue.
People are worried about their jobs and the McCain campaign continues to peddle that crap...
the socialists are gonna take this country and fix all the shit republicans have done with their barabaric capitalism. Even the IMF has determined a change in the whole economic system, and republicans still fight the fact that the shit-whole is all around. They loose only by being incapable to cope with needed change.
Now, we'll see their barbaric ways of defamation, half ass conspiracy theories, and infinite fearful rage on anything that demands change from their static ignorant fearful minds.
What socialists? Bernie Sanders?
If you watched that video of that rally in Wisconsin, it was clear McCain had no control over the crowd.
Did McCain and Palin suddenly become Grand Wizards or something? McCain is proving himself to be an embarrassment and a coward.
The creepiest thing about McCain's campaign is just this weird tendency to over-simplify things to the point of total lies. I honestly might've been on the fence for a minute at one point if they could've put forth something in the way of compelling information or strategy as opposed to weird ghost story folklore frenzy. Barack Obama has an actual answer for every question posed and a sound strategy for every problem he's faced with, whereas all the McCain ticket seems to do is:
Q: What about the economy? You were recently quoted as saying....
A: He's a black terrorist! He has sat there and said he can make the devil grow in a baby if he touches it! That is NOT what America needs right now!
amanda harlech...i pray you are wrong. but if you are right, hopefully the socialists will help you learn how to spell a little better.
socialism has never worked anywhere. but you keep wanting to push the agenda. keep trying and keep failing cause it continues to be comical. when the government can't even do what they are supposed to do, why would we give them more power.
Spend some time in Stockholm and tell me socialism has never worked anywhere. First time I've ever realized the quality of life in middle class America is far inferior than touted to be. I would much rather be middle class in Sweden than in America.
I use of the word socialist diving the sense republicans understand it as, demonizing democrats. It is clear that democrats are not socialist...that is if you are not a crepublican.
