Early yesterday morning, an off-duty sanitation worker was killed outside of his Crown Heights apartment building. Edward Hunt, 32, was fatally shot around 5:30 a.m. on Lincoln Place. He was headed to work, as his shift at the Department of Sanitation was between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., and was killed when he got out of his car to close the driveway gate. The Daily News reports that police are trying to determine why Hunt was shot, whether it was "because of a dispute or if his luxury SUV was targeted." (His wallet and cell phone were not taken.) Hunt, the father of a 3-year-old girl, lived a floor above his mother, who was awakened by the shots.

really sad! A lot of gun violence in Crown Heights lately.
Lately?
It was alot worse back in the day.
Sad story...sounds as if he knew his attacker.
He didn't have to know his killer(s), this could have been a jealousy killing. A black man getting into a Cadillac Escalade can make others jealous. Some will kill you just for having one and won't even take it. You drive by young blacks today in a Cadillac Escalade and you'll see their heads turn and look at you in a nasty way. If you have a Escalade to some that means you have money, and that means you have more money then they do, some don't like that!
Wait, a sanitation worker can afford a $60-75,000 SUV? Damn, I'm in the wrong line of work.
im sure he hada side job. Peddling something else. He does look supeficial and smug though. Probably ran off at the mouth to the wromg man. Another lost aid humanitarian. Damn
Thanks for everyones prayers and thoughts about the recent loss of my cousin but I just want to clear one thing up. Eddie did not own an Escalade that is facts that the media has messed up he owned a Tahoe which is no where near a 70K dollar vehicle.
You know, its f*(^ed up folks like y'all that make me wonder what this world is coming to. The guy was shot outside his house on his way to work and you have the nerve to speculate about his "side job"? He lived at home with his family where I'm sure expenses were pretty minimal. (One report said he lived in the house his mother grew up in).
A child lost their father and a mother lost her son for absolutely no reason. Rather than speculate about how the man could afford to pay his car note, why not stop and offer some condolences to his family.
Eddie was a very dear friend of mine .. we grew up together on Lincoln Place. He was a good person with a heart of gold. His "special" humor and distinct voice will truly be missed.
As for the comments ...
Though I'm glad people take advantage of the freedom of speach we have, now is not the time. The type of work he did and the type of car he drove is irrelevant. Unless you're actually doing the investigating, the motive is also irrelevant at this time. The only thing you're to do (as the general public) is to keep his daughter, mother, brother, grandmother and other family and friends in prayer and begin to (or continue to) pray that the murders and acts of violence cease in our communities! Pray that people learn to subside the evil that abides in them so we'll have a decent society in which to raise our children!
God Bless You!
