Rumors of Sarah Palin making an appearance on Saturday Night Live have been quickly put at bay by head writer Seth Meyers, who says, "Of those specific rumors, there's no truth. We do have an open door policy, but there's nothing specific yet, but our window of opportunity is before the election." With such natural comedy skills, this is surprising news! Meyers also added that, regarding the pre-election primetime Weekend Update specials, "We'd love to have her [and] we spoke to her earlier [before] the time Tina did her, and it seemed like something was going to work out." Will Palin surprise everyone with an appearance, or will the McCain campaign keep her far away from Fey & Co.? [via The Observer]

is this thing on?
she's got a lot of experience reading what other people have written for her
The difference is that her speechwriters are funny.
Seriously, though, as a long time fan who has been hugely disappointed with the show for a few years, last week's edition was one of the funniest in a long time. It seemed they hired a whole new crop of writers, or at least took the show in a new direction. It was great.
Did anyone catch that sketch with Kristen Wiig and her little pointy deformed hands?
I hope she comes on SNL and starts in with her lines about Obama hanging out with terrorists (plural) who want to blow up America, Obama not envisioning America as a force of good in the world, and Obama not seeing things the way "you and I" do (wink, wink).
That sh-t cracks me up everytime I hear it.
Palin is just bringing all around her down!
Like the Midas king but in reverse!
@ #3 - I belly laughed at that one. In fact, thanks for mentioning it, I'm going to watch it again on hulu.
Tina Fey's Palin is the best thing SNL has done in a very long time. A truly scabrous imitiation of a living politician. They make her out to be the clueless idiot she so clearly is. So now they're gonna let the actual Palin on the show? To do what? Redeem herself? C'mon SNL -- have some balls. Don't let her on. The only Palin we want from you is Tina's. Seriously. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Let Fox News be "fair and balanced."
I hope they don't have that crazy fundamentalist Sarah bin Palin on SNL. It would be like inviting Ahmadinejad or Osama bin Laden.
Oh I get it: Sarah Palin's handlers want all the free media they can get so we have to endure weeks of coy SNL intrigue. The time to put her on is right after the election when her prowess as an idiotic ass can assume an Arthur Miller quality.
Why are the commenters on this board filled with such vile hatred!? It's fine that you don't agree with her views or that you think she's unqualified and inexperienced, which are things being said about certain Senator from IL as well. If she wants to go on SNL and trade zingers with Fey then I'd be all for it. Obama and other politicians went on SNL, it's probably the best way to connect to the people. SNL is not just a NY show catered for liberal NYers like #7-#9.
