Rachael Ray Will Never Give Up on Her Burger Joint

100808ray.jpgMeat-lover Rachael Ray hasn't given up on her dream of opening up a hamburger pub in midtown. She's been talking about it for years now, but you really want to believe her (or stop her) when she tells the Post, "I'm going for a '60s back-in-the-day Rat Pack-y kind of hangout, and I want the bar to be really central [and] the burgers to become a very social thing. I want people to come to the bar to see beautiful proper martinis being made and to enjoy some sliders."

The subject came up as Ray was promoting Friday's Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash in DUMBO. She's hosting the event, which features sixteen chefs—including Tom Colicchio, David Burke, and Al Roker—competing for the title of city's best burger baron. But they're going to have their work cut out for them to impress Ray; she says, "I've always been partial to the Whopper - no mayonnaise, add mustard. In California, I love In-N-Out." Those are good burgers, Rachael.

Friday night's Burger Bash is sold out, but there are tickets for other wine and food tasting events still available. There's also free espresso being given out tomorrow through the 12th at the illy “Push Button House," a Meatpacking District shipping container transformed into a five-room home with all-recycled materials. And as a consolation for those not attending the Burger Bash, that Rachael Ray corn porn video that's been making the rounds is after the jump! (Stay tuned for the money shot at 1:07.)

Never again do I want to see the words "Rachael Ray" and "corn porn" together again.

Not a legit burger competition without Dumont Burger representing.

Hey Jen, at least it didn't say Rachel Ray corn hole.

Whopper with mustard? What a redneck.

Meh, if you ask a lot of chefs, they all have some fast food indulgence. So hers is the whopper. We can't all eat at swanky five-star restaurants all the time longacre.

I consider myself a bit of a foodie and have a weak spot for Chik-Fil-A sandwiches.

I love the old 'in-out' as well.

"I consider myself a bit of a foodie and have a weak spot for Chik-Fil-A sandwiches."

That's because Chick-Fil-A sandwiches are the friggin' bomb!

People who consider themselves foodies but overlook fast food because they're too busy paying idiot chefs $1000 for a paella are not true foodies. They're just snobs.
