Maybe El-Ad will get cheap prices on labor and steel for their construction. And the viability of the project will likely depend on debt load.

Surely the better hotel will bring more business (by mistake, of course). Reminds me of the joke about the small neighborhood store with 2 big department stores built on either side. A friend asks the owner, "How'd you stay in business?" and the owner replies, "I changed the name of the store to Main Entrance."

This reminds me of when the Helmsleys opened "The Palace" and apparently forgot to check the phone book first. There already was a "Palace" in NYC in the mid-80's. It was the flophouse on Bowery directly above CBGB! All the local stations did stories about how surprised the clerk was when he started to get phone calls from abroad requesting reservations.
