After O.J. Simpson was found guilty of charges--13 years to the day he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman-- related to a Las Vegas robbery last year, the tabloids put the new verdict on their covers today. The Post recalled its 1995 "Not Guilty" cover, and offered this quote from lawyer Gloria Allred, who represented the Brown family, "O.J. Simpson is finally being held accountable for his crime. O.J. Simpson's favorite song appeared to be 'If I Only Had a Brain.' If he only had a brain, he would never have committed the crime he did in Las Vegas. And if he only had a heart, he would never have killed Nicole and Ron Goldman."
The Daily News spoke to a lawyer for the Goldman family, who suggested that "trial evidence [be] sold as memorabilia" and that Simpson's prison salary become part of the $33.5 million that Simpson owes from the wrongful death judgment. Lawyer David Cook's pitch: "You too can own the autographed football that put Mr. Simpson behind bars!" He added, "We'll look forward to collecting that 83 cents an hour."
Simpson's lawyer is planning an appeal; one reason cited was the fact there were no blacks on the jury. Simpson's friend Tom Scotto said, "What happened here is a total lynching. Obviously the jury wanted to make a statement. Everybody is devastated." Some black Los Angeles residents were also skeptical about whether he received a fair trial, especially given the timing of the verdict, one telling the LA Times, "These jurors wanted payback, and they were going to have the payback to the day."
However one juror, Anne Sorge, said, "We never once referred to the past. We had so much information in front of us to cover." And Simpson's former "Dream Team" lawyer Robert Shapiro told the Post, "He got a fair trial from, what I read."

I remember all the white people having huge smiles on their faces when the verdict was read. I know i did.

Maybe they wanted payback because the earlier jury created a total miscarriage of justice. Those idiots brought the term "jury nullification" into the public consciousness. How could anyone be suckered by that bad acting when he tried on the glove? Hey, OJ, if you didn't do it, where are your leather gloves and size 12 Bruno Magli shoes? I'm sure LAPD officers are soooo smart that went through all this planning to find out your glove size, shoe size, stole your clothing, made sure you had no alibi or witnesses, etc. Yeah, they're a regular Impossible Missions Force. Weirdly enough, I remember what I was doing when the first verdict was read. I had just started my semester at NYU and was walking somewhere on campus, when a group of about 10-20 African American students on the sidewalk started cheering gleefully. They had been watching the verdict on a TV in a window. I heard a few minutes later what had happened, and all I could think was, "that's really fucked up..."
Granted, they were young, so maybe the obvious details of the case were lost on them. I only hope that all these years later, they've observed his behavior and maybe, just maybe reconsidered their initial joy.

Fair trial? OJ's defense team was there when the jury was picked. The defense helped, along with the prosecution, pick the jury.
Yes, it was a fair trial.
The sad thing about all these comments is that many blacks thought he was guilty to so stop making all these stupid comments. Hell, even Chris Rock made "OJ did it" famous in his comedy stand ups back in the 90s. Sadly, if OJ killed a black woman this post would have ZERO comments.

Robert Shapiro told the Post, "He got a fair trial from, what I read." Robert got rich and famous off the first trial, he didn't care what happen to OJ this time, he got his money for the first one.
To all the racist: OJ is going to jail for robbery, he will ALWAYS be NOT GUILTY for killing your white woman. This shouldn't be a "victory" or "payback" for you.
OJ gets to play football again.
