The Daily News should shut up. They sat outside Pigott's house, rang his phone off the hook demanding statements, freaked out three little kids, and I'm certain contributed to the upset that drove Pigott to take his life. You won't see them mention that in their reporting.

He overreacted on both counts. They should have given Morales some room instead of trying to close in, which escalated into the Tasering. But he wasn't going to prison. He wouldn't have been handcuffed and paraded down the perp walk like he feared. At absolute worst, he might have been kicked off the force, but more likely just kicked out of ESU. It wasn't worth losing his life over. Then again, there's very little in this world worth killing yourself over, especially if you have a family depending on you.
