Mets Sign "Gangsta" to a 2-Year Contract

2008_10_manuel.jpgTwo days after agreeing to a contract extension with the Mets, Omar Minaya has removed the "interim" from Jerry Manuel's manager title. The Mets and Manuel agreed to a two-year deal with a club option for a third. The team was 55-38 under Manuel's stint as manager. Guess this means no return for Bobby Valentine and post-ejection mustache disguise.

Oh whatever. Throw up the "Fail" moniker for next year and be done with it.

What's a guy gotta do to lose his job? Bring up Heilman again?

The pen' had better be "gangsta" for him to manage.

While admitting that the manager is, of course, not solely responsible for his team's record:

If the Mets had won games under Willie Randolph at the same rate they did under Jerry Manuel (55-38 = 0.591 winning percentage), they would have won 96 games, which would have been enough to win the division by 4.

Just food for thought, for those who think Jerry is automatically not good enough because the Mets did not make the playoffs.

JMH: I couldn't agree more! Had the Willie been let even just a week earlier, who knows what would've of happened. (*sigh*)

Yeah, I am am a disgruntled fan...But at least I don't live in Chicago!

The Mets can sign whoever they want. They will still fail to get the job done every September.

Manuel used the term "gangsta" in jest to describe Santana's performance while injured -- why not only use that word for no reason, but incorrectly?
