- A third patient with Legionnaire's disease has died at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. A total of eight patient was diagnosed.
- Gawker Media is laying off 19 people, but is also hiring more employees at some other titles. Nick Denton explains the measures are because of the R-word (recession), though "Sure, the company is currently profitable and advertising sales are up by about 30% on their level of a year ago."
