Bobby Valentine Would Love to be a Met Again

2008_10_bobbyv.jpgAs the Mets continue contract talks with manager Jerry Manuel, former manager Bobby Valentine told ESPN 1050 he'd be open to coaching the Mets again. In an e-mail, Valentine, who is coaching the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan, wrote, "I love it here, but I am an American and love great challenges. I was a in a Met uniform in the '70s, '80s, '90s, 2000, and would love to be there in the next decade." Valentine's name had been mentioned earlier this year when Willie Randolph was in the hot set.

You and your ego should stay in Japan, Bobby.

The Mets are still paying Willie Randolph somewhere like $2 million. Must be nice getting money like that after getting fired.

At least he never reprehensibly classified a player's stellar performance (on more than one occasion!) as 'Gangsta', unlike that stupid idiot brand-diluting Jerry Manuel.

It appears that Jerry Manuel and the Mets have reached an agreement on a 2 year extension.

What the Mets need is what they got with Keith in 1983: a veteran player who has won before and knows what it takes. That, and another starter, 3 guys for the pen, a left fielder, and a second baseman.

By the way Bobby V may be the only person fired by both Fred Wilpon and George W. Bush.

Kevin Walsh had to figure out a way to bring George Bush into the thread. Congrats Kevin, now go smoke your bowl.

What the Mets need is to play another sport. Baseball is not for them.
