Pencil This In

It's all about the debate tonight, and here are some suggestions on where to watch--feel free to leave your own in the comments. For those who want to turn a blind eye to the Palin/Biden face-off, there are a few non-debate related events below.

phpwh4bLYPM.jpgMOVIE: The Ronald Bronstein-directed film Frownland will be screening at BAM tonight as part of the Brooklyn Close-Up series. The dark comedy "traces the miserable existence of a self-described 'troll from under the bridge' who reverse-commutes from his Brooklyn apartment to
the suburbs every day to hock coupon packets door-to-door." Bronstein will be in attendance tonight for a Q&A during the 6:50 show.

6:50 and 9:30 p.m. // BAM Rose Cinemas [30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn] // $11

EVENT: The Jones Street Boys invite you to their monthly Housing Works Bookstore and Cafe event that they curate. Joining them are Washington D.C. band Junior League, and of course the VP debate--tonight's headliner no matter where you are.

8 p.m. // Housing Works [126 Crosby St] // Free

COMEDY: The Big Terrific comedy show will be going on this evening, despite the debate. Host Max Silvestri says, "Gabe and Jenny and I can't cancel the show, because each week we make Sound Fix over ten dollars and they *need* us. But we called and asked, and the networks said they can't cancel the debates either." Joining the trio tonight are Aziz Ansari, Arj Barker, Jack Kukoda, Matt McCarthy and Patrick Borelli (who will be presenting the 6th season of The Wire, live.)

8 p.m. // Sound Fix [110 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg] // Free

MUSIC: The Muggabears, Evangelicals, Parenthetical Girls and Miracles of Modern Science are all packing in to the Cake Shop tonight. Head over there for some music therapy after watching the VP debate. The Muggabears headline so you'll have plenty of time to catch them post-Palin's "comedy hour." Listen: Dead Kid Kicks.mp3

8 p.m. // Cake Shop [152 Ludlow St] // $tba
