As the Knicks open camp at Skidmore College today, the focus is clearly on Stephon Marbury and what the Knicks will do with him. For his part, Marbury is “okay” if the team wants to cut him, "I have no problem with playing someplace else. Everyone knows I love New York, but now it's different because the business part of it is coming into play. If I'm not wanted here, then let me go." (Gee, we'd be “okay” too if someone wanted to cut us, but still had to pay our $21 million) It is clear that Marbury won’t take a buyout of his deal for less than full value, so what are the Knicks to do? As much as cutting him might make them feel better and improve team morale, New York should let Marbury play and hopefully play well. Expiring contracts have huge value in the NBA and somebody will want Marbury’s, it’s just unclear if the Knicks can wait that long.

How about 1000 cuts?
They never should have signed him to begin with...
take those shitty Starburys with you
As bad as Starbury is it makes no sense to cut him. If he wants to continue to play in the league he'll play hard in the final year of his contract or he won't get another job (esp. with his terrible rep preceding him). But if the Dolan's want to shell out $22M to get a fresh start so be it. It wouldn't be the first time = Steve Francis.
Either way the Knicks have the worst roster in the NBA and aren't winning games this year with or without Steph so it really makes little difference.
Hey marbury, guess what? New York hates your ass. Take your looney tunes somewhere else. Why isn't this guy in an asylum?
He's too rich to be crazy. He's rich enough to be eccentric.
Is it basketball and hockey season already? who cares? Raze the Garden and make it into a post office!
Given his disorganized mind, I wouldn't be surprised if he was already cutting himself.
He's worthless! As a player he has no passion to win a championship, if he did he would have stayed with Kevin Garnett. But he wanted the bright lights and big city of New York. Why do young black players love NY some much? Lebron James now wants to come to NY. The NBA isn't about talent no more, it's about "I want to play in New York because Jay-Z is there!" The Knicks will never by the powerhouse in the East because they are signing young players who are only attracted to the hype of NY, they can care less about winning a championship there.
