Box Owners Deny "Inhumane Treatment"

092908hammerstein.jpgAfter narrowly avoiding having their liquor license application shot down by the local Community Board last week, the owners of decadent burlesque club The Box have come forward to deny allegations made by two former employees, the Porcelain TwinZ. You may recall how the duo (famous for their "Twincest" routine) accused co-owner Simon Hammerstein (pictured) of sexual harassment, arranging prostitution at the club and encouraging drug use. (Not to mention letting his dog shit in the dressing room.) Now Hammerstein has finally commented, telling the Times, "I know the shows here are sexy and outrageous and transgressive, but that’s the show. That’s not the way we run our business." According to Grub Street, that business may be in for more trouble after last week's visit from the Health Department.

It's getting to the point where you can't even take your incest act into a decadent club without being sexually harassed.

.......Sting from the Police who had seen us perform this show several times at The Box using a remake of his song Roxanne, would specially request us to Simon asking us to perform our show to his song "Roxanne" at Madisson Square Garden in front of 80,000 people....

Wow, when did the garden expand to 80k??!!! I'm no fan of Hammerstein but I'd say this is about par for these stories.

tough times for hipsters ahead...

i saw that twincest routine and it was shocking
