Taxi Commission Finds Concert Violist's Lost Viola

2008_09_taxiviol.jpgA violist with the NJ Symphony Orchestra was very lucky when the Taxi and Limousine Commission was able to find the $40,000 viola she left in a cab. Ann Roggen didn't take a receipt, but the TLC used GPS to figure out which cab had driven her from Fairway back to her Upper West Side apartment on Thursday. The TLC contacted driver Deniz Getting, but the night-shift driver was sleeping when the TLC sent messages on Friday. Fortunately, when he did get the messages, the viola was still the backseat! The Post reports that TLC Commissioner Matthew Daus himself returned the viola to Roggen, and Getting drove her to her concert in Newark. As for Roggen, who cherishes her instrument's the "unique sound," she promises to "always make sure to take a receipt."

"Always make sure to take a receipt"?

How about "Always make sure to take my $40,000 viola with me when I get out of a cab"?

How do you forget something that valuable? Isn't this the second or third violinist who left their instrument in a fucking cab?

"Taxi Commission Finds Concert Violinist's Lost Viola"

"A violist with the NJ Symphony Orchestra"

Violinist or violist?

reward? not a stupid concert I hope. thats what the last douchebag did when he left his tool in the cab.

Violinist or violist?

Obviously a violist. That's too big to be a violin in the picture.

I can't believe they keep doing this. Somebody's going to have to start putting handcuffs on instrument cases like they did with couriers' briefcases in the old movies. Or at least buy one of those alarms that goes off if you get more than a few feet from your possessions or kids. I'm sure a driver would stop if an alarm started screeching loudly in the back of his cab.

Who doesn't take their concert viola to Fairway?

Why would you call someone that forgot their musical instrument a douchebag? It's not like other people are harmed by their absentmindedness.

Why is it always the string section?? No one leaves an oboe in a cab?
