Last night Tina Fey reprised her role as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, and with Amy Poehler as Katie Couric, they recreated the interview that aired on CBS last week.
Feylin noted that on her trip to NYC, "home to the liberal media elite," her family went to "the Central Park and the FAO Schwartz and that goofy evolution museum." She also says, "I had 15 to 20 false alarms where I thought I saw Osama Bin Laden driving a taxi. I was embarrassed to be wrong, but mostly disappointed I wasn't right."
At around minute 3, Feylin is asked about the financial crisis--as a fun comparison, Palin's real answer to Couric is after the jump.
Couric: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Allow them to spend more, and put more money into the economy, instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess? You can also watch it here.Palin: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, we're ill about this position that we have been put in. Where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy. Um, helping, oh, it's got to be about job creation, too. Shoring up our economy, and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions, and tax relief for Americans, and trade -- we have got to see trade as opportunity, not as, uh, competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs created in the trade sector today. We've got to look at that as more opportunity. All of those things under the umbrella of job creation.

Yeah, it was funny. Ridiculous and over the top, but funny.
Now the debate segment -- Zzz. Such a missed opportunity. I mean, the Obama "I have a bracelet too" comment was something straight out of SNL (though sadly, it really happened).
comedy, meet tragedy
Sarah Palin is a fucking idiot.
Amy Poehler's Couric eye make-up was perfect.
I thought the SNL was unnecessary, the real interview was "comedic" enough!... a tragic comedy.
I seriously can't wait for the VP debate. Hopefully americans will wake up and see what an incompetent this woman is, and how it puts a big question mark over McCain's decision-making in times of "crisis", like the one his campaign was having when he chose Palin.
But it was a good clip, agreed that the debate skit felt flat.
I thought it was hilarious when Obama called Mccain "tom" and then "jim", SNL missed that completly.
I missed that too. Fortunately, I want a president who knows who Tom Lehrer is.
hahahah wooooow
Too bad there's no audience there to laugh just as loud during the real interview (I mean, train wreck).
As for the first commenter - Obama obviously used the 'look I have a bracelet too' comment to show how ridiculous McCain's use of that ploy was. Like 'look, I have a flag pin too' but that doesn't make a different as to whether you are a better leader with a better plan or not.
...And Obama didn't call John 'Tom.' He addressed Tom first since he asked the question, then turned and addressed John. That's common etiquette.
Wow, it's exactly this kind of reactionary-not-critical-thinking that fuels the republican side.
holyfrijole, how is Obama's bracelet comment is "straight out of SNL"?
McCain, just like all republicans, was using death of a soldier to convince people that we need to send more soldiers to die. Obama, thankfully, gave another side to the story.
#11 -- did you watch the debate?
McCain goes into an emotional story about meeting a soldier's mother, and Obama pipes in with "Well, I have a bracelet too!" and then forgets the soldier's name.
Seems like something they couldn't have written any better.
Yes, in fact, I did watch the debate. IRC, Obama did mention soldier's name, Sergeant Ryan David Jopeck. He also said he got the bracelet from the Sergent's mother, who asked him to make sure that no other mother would go through what she's going through.
#12 But the funny thing was, I was hoping Obama would have called him out on it, because I think Obama had his on and McCain didn't.
It woudl have been like, hey really? A bracelet? Let me see yours. Oh wait you didn't bring it? That's a shame.
But yeah the bracelet thing was silly. Although I do think it's good to note that everyone in the army doesn't have the same opinion.
That was funny, almost as funny as the Palin/Hillary skit two weeks ago. The real interview between Palin and Couric was sad. Then again, something tells me a lot of women in this country wouldn't do better than Palin if they were interviewed, including many of the women in last night's audience who laughed at Fey's portrayal of Palin.
I'm sure most of the men would do better either. The only difference is, they're not running for Vice-President of the United States.
Exactly right #16. The vast majority of Americans probably wouldn't do well in an interview on national policy because, just like Palin, they aren't qualified to be vice president.
Obama is dumb as a brick.
Let's see: graduate of Columbia, then magna cum laude from Harvard, US Senator...
I know you are just trying to troll, Pull My Finger, but come on! At least try to make it funny or something.
He a fucking asshole.
That was the best skit last night. Clinton on Weekend Update is always good. Nothing else really worked. More Wiig and Hader. Fire Kenan and Armisen.
It's no secret that Palin is unable to form coherent sentences without the aid of a teleprompter. It's not just SNL that's noticed. Take for instance, the Sarah Palin Quote Generator. Her actual diction is so bad that it's surprising how close some of the generated quotes are to the real thing.
>>He a fucking asshole. (sic)
Brilliant. Well done.
Politics used to be a sideshow to life here in America- Now it's become the main event!
The trivialization of the heretofore serious American Politics began after (then) President Nixon appeared on Laugh In saying the shows stupid logo-saying: 'Sock-It-To-Me'.
What a shame.
Do you think SNL will parody/mock Joe Biden- the two-time loosing political hack who suffers from a terminal case of foot-in-mouth disease!?
We get what we deserve. . .
# 23 TRUTH HURTS DON'T IT
>>DON'T IT
Again, your nuanced grammar is delightful and you're clearly a bright individual.
He a fucking asshole.
Well, can't argue with that well-explained piece of logic.
I think they pulled your finger too hard and you farted out your brains.
how is this for grammer go fuck your self hahahahahahahaha
re: how is this for grammer go fuck your self hahahahahahahaha
suggest:
How (initial caps) is this for grammar? (sp/add punctuation, suggesting question mark, would accept semi-c) Go (initial caps) fuck yourself! (one word, not two/ass punctuation--suggesting exclamation, would accept period). Ha, ha! (As a general rule, two separated by comma is enough to indicate laughter.)
Note: When do you think you could have revision on my desk. Also, would it be unrealistic to add pulling your head out of your ass to same deadline?
