me with 5 grand a month after taxes: satisfied and shutting the fuck up about any problems i had "getting by," because if i had those problems, they'd be because of my own stupidity and nothing else...

In reference to the Times article: Maybe I am naive, but a 79 year old single woman cant make it on 5 grand a month after taxes? The article states she is 2 grand a month short of her expenses. That means she can only "get by" on 84 grand a year after taxes. Do people here really know how the rest of the country lives, needless to say most of the planet? Things are so askew on this little island.

Please, they most likely are black. What other ethnic group would shoot someone in the head for fried chicken? I'm just stating some common sense here.

At any given time, The NY Times could easily find and spotlight six people in dire economic straits. It's way too early in this latest grueling round of carnage to gauge its impacts. Banks and other businesses are still burning through on hand capital. When they do have to return to the window and pay a higher premium on credit, then we'll see things get ugly. Not a good time to be a clerk at Tiffany's.
