- The Dow went up almost 200 points on news that the government has agreed on a bailout plan.
- NY Hospitals give patients color-coded bracelets to clearly indicate patient care/illness ("do not resuscitate," "allergies," etc.), but it opens up some privacy concerns.

- New Yorker photographer Bert Stern who took those iconic nude Marilyn Monroe photographs (and later recreated them with Lindsay Lohan) is suing for their return; he says he lent them to a now-closed magazine but they were never returned.
- A man, convicted of rape and murder but later exonerated by DNA evidence, is protesting against former prosecutor Jeannine Pirro's TV talk show since Pirro refused to look at the DNA evidence when handling the case.
- New York native Amy Ryan talks to the Vulture about her role on The Office as well as NJ vs. California wildlife: "I’ll take a Jersey bear any day than a Los Angeles rattlesnake."
