Bloomberg Not Kidding Around with Property Taxes, Budget Cuts

2008_09_bloombsmi.jpgMayor Bloomberg wants city residents--and his agency commissioners--to know they need to get on board with some tax hikes and slashing budgets! The Mayor reiterated that property taxes will go up yesterday, "We will raise property taxes back to the level they were a year and a half ago next June. In other words, the 7 percent reduction will just be put back in." As for any city commissioners who might feel aggrieved about cutting their budgets, Bloomberg--who also praised them for being "as good a group as anyone's put together"--said they need to "suck it up and get back to work, because that's the job and they’re going to have to do it.” So there!

by the way, don't think you'll escape this if you rent, it will just get added to the cost of your rental lease.

"I don't think we will get to the point of layoffs," Bloomberg said. "I don't think the cuts we will have to do to get this budget in balance are of the magnitude where we would have to lay off people."

so basically, no layoffs for the bloated overpaid nyc workforce with huge pensions and benefits... why bother when you can tax people who are struggling just to keep their homes?! I can't wait for this SOB to leave office already.

what about the 20 million in slush funds that Mayor Bloomberg dish out for his own agenda. Gave over 5 million to Simcha Felder. Respect term limits.
