Last Night's Action: Thrashed in San Diego

2006_08_sjetslogo.jpg

  • Chargers 48, Jets 29: Talk about blown out of the water. David Barrett's interception return gave the Jets a 7-0 lead. Then the Chargers got a field goal and another quick touchdown before Antonio Cromartie returned a Brett Favre interception -- one of two on the day -- for a touchdown. The Jets errors in this game included a lost fumble, a missed onside kick and generally sloppy defense. The final score reflects a wide-open game in garbage time, not any threat by the Jets to win the game. They get Arizona next week to try to recover.

  • Cubs 9, Mets 5: Jason Marquis (Staten Island's own) became the second pitcher to hit a grand slam off the Mets this season. Needless to say, this game didn't go well for Jon Niese. The Mets now lead the Brewers by one game in the wild card and trail the Phillies by 2 1/2 games in the National League East. Everyone wants to compare this season to 2007, but then they started to stink in July. This year they have been more up and down. Making things tougher is Carlos Beltran's knee injjury.

  • Liberty 66, Sun 62: How many people in New York would trade a Mets playoff berth for the Liberty's first WNBA title? Crickets? Well, the team is one step closer after a come-from-behind win in the fourth quarter. Of course, New York held the lead earlier in the period before giving it back. Essence Carson had 15 points in the win.

Just End The Season already...

"Just End The Season already..."

I agree, the season is too long. By the time the Series starts, I don't care any more.
