Blaine Still Hanging in There

David Blaine has been upside down since yesterday, and today his medical team will be on hand at Wollman Rink to check in on their patient. There have been some concerns about what being in his position for 60 hours can do to the human body (like blindness!), so stay tuned for what's likely to be a dramatic yet reassuring press conference with the docs.

Tomorrow Blaine ends his latest challenge with "a heart-stopping plunge at 10:45 p.m," and over the past day fans have been coming up to a lowered Blaine and asking him for autographs. CBS News has some video if you aren't motivated to check it out for yourself.

I was down there a little while ago and he was 'taking a break'.

He actually went to the bathroom behind a white sheet and was on his feet for at least 20 minutes. People seemed really disappointed that he wasn't hanging upside down. It seemed a little fake to me.

David Blaine is a FRAUD! from somewhere "Turns out the whole promise of hanging upside down for 60 hours straight failed to include the times he stretches his body horizontally and then stands straight up, on his own two feet, for multiple check-ups. Oh, and the whole suspension thing is a joke: Most of the time he's hovering over the ground, chatting with tourists and bystanders. So this — "he will hang upside down above New York's Central Park for three days and two nights … suspended six stories up on a highwire" — is totally false. Go figure" --- so Basically this dude hangs upside down some of the time, not for the entire 60 hours! The cake is a lie.

But is this really a record? He's not upside down all the time. He was on the ground for nearly an hour yesterday afternoon and was flipped back up for checkups every now and then.

I think the jokes are hokey, but I do like the idea of the public interaction around them. He's a showman and seems ready to participate with the public...whether or not they want to.
