Bat-Wielding Bronx Mugger Turns Himself In

2008_09_beatinb.jpgThe suspect who allegedly struck Pelagio De La Cruz seven times in the head with a bat during a late-night robbery in the Bronx has turned himself over to police. Jamal Roman, 26, was arrested yesterday after being identified by his accomplice, 20-year-old Gavin Scott, who surrendered earlier, accompanied by his grandmother. Scott was captured on a surveillance video rifling through De La Cruz's pockets after Roman allegedly beat the victim outside a University Heights building. As he was led out of the 52nd Precinct last night, Scott yelled to reporters, "I didn't hit him. I didn't do nothing wrong." De La Cruz remained unconscious until last Thursday, when he finally opened his eyes. On Sunday he spoke for the first time, and is undergoing reconstructive surgery on his jaw and face.

camera's and DNA don't lie, criminals do.

"I didn't hit him. I didn't do nothing wrong."

Robbery isn't wrong? You sure as hell didn't do anything right. You could have stopped your buddy. You could have decided not to rob anybody. You could have gotten a job like most people. Drop dead, Gavin, and take your scumbag friend with you.

These two perps are the scum of the earth.

I just found out this morning our student worker is his niece. Blessings to his family and I hope he heals quickly.

Was Gavin having a senior moment when he was beating on the poor guy,and only later he recognized his accomplice by watching the video?

The guy's head was low and outside, I didn't swing at it!

Send him to prison for life.

the yankees should hire this criminal.
