Paterson on GZ Rebuilding: "More of a Mess than You Know"

Governor Paterson spoke with NY Times reporters today about his frustrations with the rebuilding at Ground Zero and how greatly behind schedule and over budget it is.
He said that the process was "more of a mess than you know" with more details expected in a forthcoming report. He reiterated the impracticality of shutting down the LMDC, but said that he would like to speak to Mayor Bloomberg directly about the mayor's suggestion that it be disbanded. Paterson said that one of the things he could bring to the rebuilding process was "willingness, perhaps, to make a mistake" and that his biggest surprise since becoming governor was "how little people who have authority want to exercise it.”

The WTC was a great concept 50 years ago. It's an outmoded concept for the 21st century.

Based on Paterson's latest insights, I was expecting him to say that nothing is happening at ground zero because of racism.

Blow it off. There's nothing left to fill those towers except the pidgeons. A nice surface lot would do: plenty of convenient parking for the Winter Garden.
