Olympic-Style Street Harassment: The Evidence

2008_09_olyhar.jpg

A follow-up to our post about the Olympic-style street harassment last month, when men rated women walking in Madison Square Park. Reader Lauren writes in to confirm it did happen with a photo and says, "To be honest, 'crude' or 'offensive' as the guys may have been, I thought it was one of the funnier things I’ve ever seen in NYC." But maybe that's because she was getting 9's and 10's!

If I were a woman subjected to this, I'd hold up a sign right back at them: 3"

they look like such douchebags.

thank you JC.
exactly, how would she feel if she got a -10?

I guess sexual desire is too difficult a burden to bear for a lot of men so they hand it over to their buddies. "You make up my mind for me."

Who are these c0cksuckers thing they are to be rating women? Theyre so fugly that when they try to jerk off, their hand turns them down.

I know fellas who go "bird watching" at lunch time, especially in warm weather. Fools.

For cultural and historic reasons, I give construction or blue collar guys a pass.
Sorry ladies.

But these Yuppie fruitcakes are so ball-less they cover their faces.

#1 has the right answer. Give it back to them. This is the sort of sport only a loser would enjoy.

Again, I'll never understand why some men feel the need to do this to women. How would they feel if someone showed this much disrespect to their mom, sister or daughter?

It's the United Nations of scumbags.
USA! NUMBER ONE!

summing all, those dudes don't reach even a 2!
3 is generous !

Guy on far left gets a 2 instead of a 3, as he's gettin' fat AND smoking so ya know he's gettign fatter.

I see lots of 9's and 10's.

I think we need to see a pic of this Lauren character.

Men continue to act like jerks because women keep fucking guys who act like jerks.

3" = 3 inches. Well, I thought it was funny.

@15

Some girls like it that thick.

Attractive or not (in this case definitely not), why do some men feel the need to express out loud what they are thinking about women on the street? I see it as a particularly instrusive, and often threatening, form of oversharing. Whether or not you like how we look, guys, keep your opinions to yourself.

There is a way for men to talk to women on the street that they find attractive: Just say 'hello' or 'good morning' (afternoon, evening) etc. If some guy yells out something crude at me, I would never respond. But a simple hello or good morning? You could not possibly construe that as harassment. I'm just sayin'. A little tip for the guys out there. It works.

Boys, if you're gonna play this game, own it. Put the signs down. Let's see your faces. And can I borrow a piece of a paper and a pen? It'll only take a second to write "1".

Ladies, make up your minds. First, you don't like to be degraded, now you don't want to be graded. Which is it?

When women turn 50+ they wish men will look at them again.

These fools be arrested for harassment.

Sure all women who are 50+ would love to be treated like shit by these fucking winners. The tragedy of aging has robbed them of the chance to be rated by lecherous misogynists!

Last article spoke of construction workers...Constructions workers dressed in black pants and tucked in shirts...Seems like a setup for a good read...

Who are the biggest losers in this picture, the putzes sitting on the bench or the dummies waiting in line for Shake Shack?

They are doing it to exert control and show their machismo. When it really shows just the opposite; they are scared little boys. Wah. Me no talk to girls, me need to show power.

And when they're through doing this, they probably go to one's apartment and do each other.
