Barron Not Afraid to Bring Hugo Through City Hall

2008_09_charles.jpgCity Councilman Charles Barron has extended an invitation to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop by City Hall while he's in town for this week's UN summit. Barron has a history of wooing controversial world leaders, having brought Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe by the city's chambers in 2002. Barron's latest invitation has raised the ire of other local politicians like Peter Vallone Jr., who told the Daily News, "If he wants to invite despotic dictators, he should invite them to his own house. They don't belong at the home of democracy in New York City." Barron clearly doesn't see Chavez in the same light calling him "a shining example of a humanitarian." The controversy even got the fiery of late former mayor Ed Koch into the discussion, saying, "Barron has a right to invite anybody he wants, and everybody else has a right to moon him."

Barron is a radical, a racist, and a nut. He needs attention.

Baron hates the NYPD and police in general.

Chavez is a dictator who suppresses opposition and protest with police, who use brutal force.

Doesn't Baron see the disconnect between him and his buddy? No. Why? He's an idiot.

I hate our current administration, but I don't like dictators either. Koch is right, moon this mofo.

Barron needs a nice weekend at GITMO to ponder his hatred towards his country.

Venezuela gave millions of free heating oil last winter to the poor in the Bronx.

Bush gave trillions this week to the greedy on Wall Street.

I suppose if Chavez were a right-wing dictator, Koch and Vallone would embrace him.

Sure he gave heating oil - I'm sure you don't believe it was an altruistic move. Left-wing dictator / right-wing dictator... same shit... unless you're a freshman at NYU.

Check out Human Right Watch's report that just came out on Chavez.....

"The controversy even got the fiery of late former mayor Ed Koch into the discussion"

Uh, Ed Koch ain't dead...

Maybe Chavez can take his fellow commie Barron back to Caracas with him.

For the price of a bit of oil (something he has plenty of) Chavez scored a propaganda victory and fooled lot of gullible twits such as poster #3.

Perhaps Barron and Chavez can walk around Manhattan together smacking white people in the face.

Barron & Chavez are 2 lowlife phonies.Barron will do anything to get attention and is a 3rd rate politician. Chavez is a 3rd rate Castro.

Vallone Jr. is a hypocrite, he has no regard for democracy. he and his father are pushing to overturn over votes and extend their jobs. We voted twice for term limits and vallone has no regard for democracy. Chavez fits right in with the city council which works for the lobbyists and not for the people

Barron is not the leader of the council. He's just 1 of 51 council members. What makes him think he has the authority to invite anyone to City Hall? Maybe the steps are public property, however, that means I could invite anyone I wanted to City Hall.

Well... you are wrong about that. Hugo Chavez is in China.

Mr. Chavez: "China is showing the world and has shown the world that it isn't necessary to harm anyone to be a great power," Chavez told reporters upon his arrival in Beijing. "They're soldiers of peace."
