<description>&lt;p&gt;The NYPD hired Microsoft to develop an improved Virtual Earth mapping system to help track each radiation detector from the operations center. 
No wonder it&apos;s $29.5 million. It would be $.5 million if they used Google Maps.

They already have at least one special truck that is almost certainly built for this purpose (let&apos;s just say it looks very unique) and they set it up at checkpoints in Midtown from time to time. Last time I saw it, I saw two cops looking carefully at the laptop mounted to the dashboard. I thought, &quot;cool, I wonder if they detected something, and I wonder what the screen looks like when they do!&quot; 

When I got closer, I discovered they were playing Windows Solitaire.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
