Photo of the Day: TV on the Raccoon

0908ripraccoon.jpg
Photo via Elizabeth Weinberg's Flickr.

Though the autopsy isn't in on this little guy, according to this map he met his end in Prospect Park (where his kind has struck before), and according to the orange paint it may have been at the hands of a cable company (probably Time Warner). Whether the company has blood or just orange paint on its hands is undetermined, but shame on them--Fios would never pull this.

Damn funny. If you can't laugh at varmint road kill, what can you laugh at?

And the paint is clearly *over* the blood.

Odd that this image pops up on the internet(!)

photoshop?

?

that is both totally fucked up and hilarious.

Come on. Really? I really needed to see this today?

Isn't death funny?. I'm gonna log on to Youtube now and enjoy some freshly killed American bodies there before someone mutilates them beyond recognition.

Jen Carlson should be fired!

So isn't Fios a gothamist sponsor? Isnt it bad to blur the line - even a little bit - between advertisement and news piece?

Even though I don't like raccoons, posting this photo - even as a joke - is poor taste.

knowing the photographer, it is definitely not photoshopped.

my personal guess is that the animal was already dead before some prankster put it on top of the cable marking and added some of his own paint to frame the situation.

So some cable technician doesn't want to pick up a dead rodent before painting temporary sidewalk markers and everyone cries about it?

You PETA people only see stuff in black and white, no wonder everyone hates you.

Further down the road was a black cat that got painted by a white stripe truck, and was later seen running away from an amorous skunk.

I don't see what's in poor taste here...

it's not like the raccoon's a relative of anybody's and it's not even a gory photo.

Turkeyjade - I don't get the dis on PETA here. I agree they take a lot of lame stances, but fail to see the relevance to this post.

...and before anyone attacks the cable company, these markings are usually made by outside contractors that specialize in painting lines on the street, and racoons.

When do we get to see GW with a fluorescent orange stripe across his chest like that?

^I'd settle for prison stripes.

sorry about that folks I called in the code 53. he just got in the way

Hate TW.

Hmmm...paint over raccoon or move possible rabies infected raccoon.

Photoshopped for sure, people. I can see poor 'cloning' marks in this image. This is a desperate attempt by the mediocre hipster photographer Elizabeth Weinberg to get people to view and comment upon her Flickr account.
