Wifi works on frequencies not used by ATC. If Boeing and Airbus haven't objected to it, why not? Also the main reason Cell Phones are banned because of interference with the cell towers on the ground, however they do tend to interfere with some frequencies, equipment, etc.

The only reason cell phones can't be on or used in flight isn't because they interfere with the flight controls according to El/Al security personel, it's because you can detonate a bomb using a cell phone... how will wifi be different?
