well that's one less child my tax money will be used to feed, clothe, and shelter. Things like this happen far to often. If you're going to have kids, take care of them and if you can't take care of them...b-i-r-t-h--c-o-n-t-r-o-l.

What makes this incident so terrible is that those those two kids are going to grow up thinking they murdered their infant sister. It was the mother's negligence that killed the baby, but I doubt logic will have much to do with how they feel in the future.

Yeah, I heard this morning it was a 9 month old baby. I agree, still either way too young, but one must wonder how old the baby really was? There are so many things i want to write here and I just can't bring myself to do it. I become more and more deflated with each story I read. I hope I leave here before I start blaming the victim(s), or stop caring all together.

Very unfortunate to hear, and irresponsible of the Mom to leave the child unattended at that age. I can't imagine how the Mom is feeling after that, the feeling of guilt you would have would be overwhelming. - Jeremy acne

26 and having three children is not unusual Steven. There are probably quite a few mothers at the age of 16 that have three children. Do we have the names of the children?

In the news report the baby was 9 months old, here on Gothamist, 4 months old, either way that is WAAAAY too young to be bathed in the bathtub alone or with just a 4 year old watching. We (my siblings and I) were were bathed in the kitchen sink until we were about a year old. My baby has a little tiny tub of her own. What was this mother thinking?
