I was with a large group of people at a cocktail party this week at which a Jewish friend of mine made an offensive ethnic joke that egregiously insulted my ethnic heritage.

I belong to one of those ethnicities with a stereotype that is commonly mocked among the politically correctoids that infest this blog and this city.

Everyone laughed, including myself. You see, my people have a sense of humor.

Had he exchanged my group with a Jew, or African-American or gay, e.g., he would have been told to leave the event. Believe me, I know, because I told a less offensive ethnic joke last year, it got publicized,and I was attacked for it.

So, get over yourself, learn to laugh, and remember, your shit smells just like everyone else's.

Just ignore them. People who build their identity on hatred and racism don't have a prayer of being effective in the greater discourse. Its a ploy of lonely sad ignorant men. They need psychiatrists not social engagement. Boring. Dumb. Tragic petrified cowards. It takes intelligence and strength to fight racism. These guys are just dumb cheerleaders against social justice. Fascists, really. I personally like democracy and plurality.

we get your larger point, but it might make a difference (re: body odor) if you distinguish between the majority of jews in this city, country, and worldwide, and the more orthodox sects who follow the rules you're describing, which, frankly, results in some pretty funky odor. I feel kind of bad for them (but they probably feel bad for me too, since I'm going to hell).

#8- I said the jews WERE NOT any more greedy than everyone else dude. They smell like onions in the sun though. I told my jew friends in college that. Hell, I even told my dorm mate who was a foreign exchange student from Israel who just completed his Israeli army service. Dude knew Krav maga and shit. Dude laughed it off and said it was true.

They take care of their own-no questions asked. If this happened around a group of hipsters,they would NOT intervene. They would take pictures of the perp then run home and blog about it for days—bemoaning how rough they have it. I applaud Shomrim...

i am a jew. there are jerks in every ethnic or religious group, but it is foolish to judge an entire group by the actions of a few. if you haven't learned this yet, i am sorry for you, because you are missing out on lots of great people, jewish and otherwise.

there are times when jews do things i disagree with, and there are times when jews do things i loudly applaud. the same can be said for any ethnic/religious group.

these jews in this situation are a credit to humanity. they non-violently de-escalated the situation. can you imagine what would have happened to this man if he had pulled this garbage with the wrong people? they would be cleaning him up from the sidewalk.

which brings me to my last point: people like you, doowop and babyhitter, say things in the comfortable anonymity of the internet that you frankly wouldn't have the balls to say to anyone's face. i'm jewish, and i doubt you would say any of that crap to my face. you are cowards, lower even than the scumbag you're implicityly defending with your comments.

nonetheless, i hope you can learn and grow beyond your childish prejudices and join some of us in a world where we judge people by what they say and do, not how they dress or what their religion is.

I think it's pretty cool that instead of beating his ass they all peacefully formed a circle and held him there. That's a good way to handle vigilante justice.

The guy had it coming, but I'm not so sure I want religious security firms patrolling the city. I know there is a Jewish security watch that has police cars and uniforms etc. not quite a guy on a stoop calling 911 is it really.

I think everyone can agree that the stereotype of a greedy jew is facetious. They aren't greedier than the rest of us. The true stereotype of Jews is that they smell like polar bear shit. Anytime a religion makes you grow your body hair and not let you cut it and wear a hat and a trench coat in the summer simmering in all your juices is a recipe for BO disaster.
