Moynihan Station, the long-delayed new home of Penn Station...
Under the existing plan, as I understand it, the new station would essentially be an extension of the old station, would only have 12 tracks, and all of which would be used by NJ Transit, while LIRR and Amtrak would remain in the Penn dungeon. Even more frustrating is the fact that current plans for the proposed new Hudson tunnel don't even have it connecting to Moynihan nor Penn, but to a separate station built a hundreds of feet beneath Macy's!

Unfortunately, the main attraction to pols and developers is all the junk that has nothing to do with transportation...the hotel and office and retail space that would be built above the station. It seems Paterson recognizes that a new station is needed, and the existing plan just isn't going to cut it. The PA has its hands full downtown, though, so I'm not sure how helpful they would be.

#3, it's not a waste of money when you consider how many people commute to and from Penn Station each day. And it's an absolute dump. It's ugly and difficult to navigate too. The greatest city in the world deserves a better train station (yes, we have Grand Central, but Penn Station gets more traffic).

Paterson needs to address the Madison Square situation if he's going to endorse Moynihan. The Dolans want to renovate the current MSG, which would be a complete waste of money if Moynihan becomes a reality.

We don't really need this station for trains.
Only Moynihan's daughter is for this it
is a stupid waste of money we just paid taxes
and upcoming bond notes for the re-hab of the
LIRR.NJ Transist and "Penn station"why this?

^Yeah pretty much.

Only a private firm with Pennsylvania Railroad's clout, hubris, and wealth (adjusted for inflation of course) to get this done and done right.
