Openings Roundup: Tierra, Number 7, Daniel

091208tierra.JPGTierra: Tapas now and forever! Franklin Becker, the chef who recently stepped in to try and breathe life into Sheridan Square, now has another responsibility: Tierra. Per the press release, it’s where "Old School Tapas" meets "New School Tapas." The menu emphasizes adventurous wine pairings with items like Cabrales Filled Dates, Warm Goat Cheese Torta, and Chicken Livers on Toast. It opens tonight in the space formerly occupied by Tasca, and the publicist's breathless description of the interior (pictured) goes a little something like this: “The white on white curves of the space speak softly and carry a light touch. Drop-dead-gorgeous white teardrop pendants light up the bar. And should you cast your eyes downward, the floor pops with Gaudi-like tile work you may want to have in your own kitchen.” 130 Seventh Avenue South, (212) 352-2232

Number 7:
Nuts to that post-Labor Day fashion rule; Fort Greene’s newest restaurant looks mighty nice in white. Thrillist has the scoop: “A white-walled hall with sun streaming in from cantilevered windows, 7's a breezy bar-staurant tucked directly behind the Lafayette C stop.” The modestly priced menu features entrees like vegetarian lasagna and hangar stake with kimchi perogies and yellow squash. There are the de rigueur classic cocktails and wine, but the real stars are the six regional micro brews on tap. And a promised backyard patio will hopefully open before the weather turns too nasty. 7 Greene Ave, near Fulton, Brooklyn.

Daniel:
After a major renovation, chef Daniel Boulud has reopened Daniel with a flashy new look, courtesy designer Adam D. Tihany. Eater, which has gorgeous photos, deems the new space “cleaner, brighter, less stuffy.” And, presumably, still cost-prohibitive for dogs like us. But if you’ve got the Euros, by all means, enjoy the four star French-stasy. 60 East 65th Street, (212) 288-0033
