Incredibly horrible and gruesome. Those poor commuters all knew each other from many months and years riding together and they had to watch their friends get badly injured or die. It was a missed signal that resulted in the head-on collision, but if that wasn't bad enough, the engine from the Metrolink train pushed back and telescoped into the first car. These are the worst imaginable train wrecks and I feel just as terrible for those first responders that had to clear that scene. they will be haunted by this for the rest of their lives.

Whats amazing is that the exact same thing happened almost a year ago involving the same train company and a freight train. What the hell...

That's horrifying, and I didn't even know that LA had commuter railways. Great coverage though. Hats off to Zach Behrens for the on-scene photography.
