Arrests Made in Off-Duty Cop Shooting

After the shooting of an off-duty rookie cop on Staten Island, the police arrested two suspects, but are still looking for a third. Police believe that up three armed men surrounded Police Officer Damion Lawrence, his brother and a friend in their car in Port Richmond. Lawrence was shot twice in the leg and his gun was also stolen. Lawrence underwent surgery and is expected to recover--but the hospital found he was carrying 1/8 ounce. Internal Affairs is also investigating; the Daily News points out that a $25 bag would only get a civilian a summons.
