Target Bullseye Bodegas Ready for Friday

It was previously reported that Target would be opening their promotional "Bullseye Bodegas" at four temporary locations around Manhattan on September 11th. Now the opening date is September 12th, so either the reports were wrong or someone in marketing realized that 9/11 might not be the most ideal day to launch a campaign with the word "bullseye" in it.

At any rate, they're here, and Apartment Therapy got a sneak peek. In business for just four days, the bodegas are supposed to give NYC shoppers "chic deals" on Target's new design partnerships before they hit real shelves in real Target stores. (Details and locations here.) Judging by the photos, the four colorful mini-stores seem evocative of a kid's pretend supermarket set, with ersatz bottles of milk and rolls of toilet paper. But the bodega homage won't be really complete unless Target hires actors to mill around the register and buy an annoying amount of lotto tickets.

My posting was deleted of course by a irony loving yuppie no doubt.

But I am posting again. Target is RACIST the store ain't funny, the cans ain't funny and ending their little "bodega" stunt on the day Hispanic heritage month starts is NOT CUTE

But people are drink it up anyway cause they are target commercial loving zombies

thanks for letting me rant again I'm just glad it's almost over

The Brooklyn Target at Atlantic is supereasy to get to via public transportation. I love that place.

#10: "some obscure bus route I'm unaware of." Umm, that obscure bus line would be the M15, the busiest bus route in the city http://www.mta.info/nyct/facts/ffbus.htm#routes

  • Gwinny

longacre: true, but that location isn't convenient to any form of public transportation, unfortunately (except maybe some obscure bus route I'm unaware of).

And I say this even though I actually live in Harlem (on the West side, though).

I fail to understand why these are temporary.

#4: They're opening a store in East Harlem in 2009.

[4], when you say "NYC", you mean "Manhattan", don't you? There are at least three Target stores in Brooklyn, two in Queens, and one in the Bronx which is (in Marble Hill) partially in Manhattan. But N of 96th St. probably doesn't count.

    Corporate Bodegas?

    The End is near

LOL@#3's South Park reference. What are you going to do with the underpants once you have them?

  • jackdonaghy

#2, I agree. Why don't they just open a store in NYC? Before everyone gets upset, Target has a much, much better record than Walmart. Also, I'm only talking about 1 or 2 locations where there is already a struggling big box store.

Seriously, wouldn't you rather have Target than the 1982 K-Mart in Astor Place or in Penn Station?

  • Quidnam

It's meant to be as confusing as possible, so that people line up and cram in and try to sort through fake merchandise and find the answer...

    1. Steal underpants.

    2. ...

    3. Profit!!!

WTF -- I still have no idea what this is about. PR Failure!
