A British boy who wears a NY Yankees hat because bullies tease him over his alopecia-related baldness is banned from his school, according to the Daily Mail. Dale Platts, 13, has been bald (and eyelashless) since age 5 months, and bullies tease him about his condition and even throw things at his head. The Robert Pattinson School said Platts could wear "a beanie hat as a compromise" (threatening to teach him in isolation if he dared wear the Yankees cap), the teen says "the woolly hat causes eczema and headaches, and does not offer the same protection-against harsh fluorescent lighting and dust as his cap." Presently, Platts is at home, missing classes, but said, "I just want to go to school and get no bother."

That doesn't look like a Yankees cap.
And he really should wear either a West Ham or Millwall cap like the rest of the skinheads.
This is what happens when you pay education professionals like DMV employees. Stupid people end up in charge.
He's 13, he should start hitting the gym and start taking martial arts. I knew a guy with Alopecia who's nickname was Kilowatt. He was a real badass.
That isn't a Yankees cap.
It looks like one of those generic NY caps tourists buy from vendors in Times Square.
Somebody get the poor kid a boonie hat or a nice Tilley. No itch and much more sun (and fluorescent light) protection than a baseball cap. School administrators seem stupid the world over.
He's a PROBLEM CHILD. Aye, aye, Angus.
Hank Steinbrenner should get him a real Yankees hat.
Poor kid. That said, there really ought to be some kind of restriction on Limeys buying Yankees hats, because it really is a problem. It's not like people in Asia wearing UK football shirts because they love the team, most people wearing yankees merch in the UK do not have the faintest idea what they're advertising. I just returned from that fair country and had enormous fun barking "how's that playoff run going, losers" into their funny, pink, strangely-aligned faces as they sat there gormlessly on the tube.
Only in Ameri... oh, wait. Never mind.
How about punishing the bullies?!?
"a beanie hat as a compromise"
Oh yeah. The bullies will sure leave him alone after he sports one of those. For sure!
is there a hair club for boys?
He should get a Burberry baseball cap to get the chavs on his side.
if he thinks he knows what bullying is now, he should try taking a piss during "god bless america".
#10 - I agree that the main problem was completely ignored. Since parents are paying serious quid for their children to attend that school, you would like to think that the students would be educated on how to treat others with medical conditions. Also, the parents should discipline their children as well.
On a lighter note, here in NY, kids are getting picked on for wearing Yankee hats too - because the team has been an epic embarrassment.
Well if they made a baseball cap that read "Go Lymies" we wouldn't have this problem would we?
"And he really should wear either a West Ham or Millwall cap like the rest of the skinheads."
Win.

1) No matter how pricey the education, there will always be bullies.
2) No matter how poor or well off people are, there are some who will never do a damn towards properly raising their children.
Poor kid. I lost my hair to alopecia when I was 7 and until it had fully grown back in when I was 9, I went from having friends and being generally happy to being lonely and made fun of daily. I was a pretty little girl who went to being chastised by adults for appearing to be a boy wearing earrings or a dress, and kids my age and older called me a faggot. My principal pulled me out of line at lunch and made fun of my earrings (hearts, for chrissakes) to the delight and glee of my classmates until my teacher had to yell at him. It's not the kid's fault, and they should back the hell off of him.
