Last week rumors started swirling around the making of Ghostbusters III, and now Harold Ramis has confirmed some of them. He says, "Yes, Columbia is developing a script for GB3. Judd Apatow has made several other films for Sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. Aykroyd, Ivan Reitman and I are consulting at this point, and according to Dan, Bill Murray is willing to be involved on some level. The concept is that the old Ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. Not much else to say at this point. Everyone is confident a decent script can be written and I guess we'll take it from there." [via Pop Candy]

Wouldn't this be unofficially Ghostbusters IV? Evolution with David Duchovny, Julianne Moore and Orlando Jones was more or less a Ghostbusters movie, complete with Dan Akroyd. Minus the Ghostbusters characters, of course.
Just let it go, already. We don't need this any more than we need a Goonies 2, a Back to the Future 4, or a Willy Wonka 2: Return to Loompa Land. The originals were great fun & should be left to be enjoyed untarnished.

It's a good we in this country have learned to settle for decent.
err...a good thing.
Well it does provide more evidence that Hollywood is out of new ideas. Still it is better than some of the other retreads.
